A uniform hollow disk with inner radius 30cm and outer radius 60cm has two pieces of thin wire wrapped around its outer rim and

is supported from the ceiling. Suddenly one of the wires breaks and the remaining wire does not slip as the disk rolls down. Use conservation of energy to find the speed of the center of this disk after it has fallen a distance of 2m.

Answer:

Speed of the center of the disc is 4.96 m/s

Explanation:

As we know that moment of inertia of the hollow disc is given as

I = \frac{m(R_1^2 + R_2^2)}{2}

now we know when one wire is break then disc will roll down so here loss in gravitational potential energy will convert into kinetic energy of the system

So we will have

mgh = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 + \frac{1}{2}I\omega^2

so we will have

mgh = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 + \frac{1}{2}I(\frac{v}{R_2})^2

so we have

mgh = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 + \frac{1}{2}m(\frac{0.60^2 + 0.30^2}{2})\frac{v^2}{0.60^2}

(10)(2) = 0.5v^2 + 0.3125 v^2

20 = 0.8125 v^2

v = 4.96 m/s

an ice skater starts with a velocity 2.25 m/s in a 50.0 degree direction after 8.33s she is moving 4.65 m/s in a 120 degree dire
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

-0.032 m/s^2

Explanation:

To answer the question, we just need to consider the motion along the horizontal direction.

The component of the initial velocity of the ice skater along the x-direction is:

u_x = u cos \theta =(2.25)(cos 50^{\circ})=1.45 m/s

where u = 2.25 m/s is the initial velocity and 50^{\circ} is the angle.

The component of the final velocity of the ice skater along the x-direction is

v_x = u cos \theta =(4.65)(cos 120^{\circ})=-2.33 m/s

where u = 4.65 m/s is the final velocity and 120^{\circ} is the angle.

The acceleration along the x-direction is given by

a_x=\frac{v_x-u_x}{t}

where

t = 120 s is the time

Substituting,

a=\frac{-2.33-(1.45)}{120}=-0.032 m/s^2

State the<br>the properties of magnets.<br>
Zigmanuir [339]

Answer:

All magnets have two poles: the North Pole and the South Pole.

Magnets attract ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel, and cobalt.

The magnetic force of a magnet is stronger at its poles than in the middle.

A freely suspended magnet always points in North-South direction.

Hope this helps

Long hair is recessive in cats. Which of the following Punnett squares show a cross that would result in the probability that 75
luda_lava [24]
The first one, or A. You can tell because a dominant allele is capital, and a mixed allele (can't remember the technical term). or Aa, still would show dominant traits. So if short hair is dominant, due to long hair being recessive, a punnet square showing GG, Gg, Gg, and g, has 3 out of 4 showing dominant traits.

Hope I helped!
