Recall from the text in the example of cell communication in Streptococcus pneumoniae that the rate of DNA uptake by pneumococca

l cells increases sharply when they are at high density, due to changes in gene expression brought about by signaling between cells. If the pneumococcal cells did not express receptor protein, how would the rate of DNA uptake be affected when the cells reach high density?

Can you help with number 5? I didn’t feel like writing it.
Leno4ka [110]

From what I can see in the picture, the cell appears that it would take up half of the microscopes view if it were to be pushed to the very edge on one side.

That would be the radius. The radius is half of the diameter, and half of 0.8 mm would be 0.4 mm. The length of the cell is about 0.4 mm.

Now for the width. Since the diameter of the FoV (field of view) is 0.8, we can see that the cell doesn't reach both sides of the circle it is in. It also doesn't appear to take up half of it. So, to get the aprox. width of the cell, we're going to half the radius.

Half of 0.4 mm is 0.2 mm, so the width of your cell is about 0.2 mm.

Your family prepared an emergency plan in case of a natural disaster. Look at the list below and then select one additional item
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer: A safe place in the neighborhood seems the most reasonable or  D

Explanation:

A map of the house  wouldn't make sense because im pretty sure they would know around there house. An enlarges picture of each family member would also not make sense because it is just not helpful at all. A wallet card for each family wouldn't help them in there situation. A safe place for the family pet would help the pet but not everyone in the house so no. A list of friends for each family member would really be useful.
