So, Addiction can lead to a number of factors. When someone gets addicted to something whatever it is food, games, and drugs (you know which ones I am talking about), this triggers the mind of that person and can either become very beneficial or very harmful. Now, there is a very low percentage between addiction being good or bad because it is mostly harmful to people and the ones around them. Bad addiction results in the persons' mind being taken over by nothing but their selves. Gaming and drugs are the most negative addictions that we see today. This is because they are so easy to get and use, yet so hard to get rid of. Addiction to drugs can change ones temper and rage levels between their families causing them to break apart and isolate. Some even kill or start to get a desire to kill a family member due to taking the harmful drugs because they loose their minds. Gaming addiction causes mostly young youth to forget about almost everything and focus on what they are playing. Sometimes, when parents take away or shut down a game this can sometimes cause some of the gamers rage in anger. Now, don't get me wrong, drugs are totally wrong but most other things that become and addiction aren't always so bad. An addiction is what you can control. Unlike drugs, once you take them you might never stop.
Addiction can not only harm yourself, but it can harm other people as well. For our first example, when a mother is pregnant, any substance or medication use during pregnancy can cause her baby to go into withdrawal from the substance or drug after it is born. This withdrawal can cause many problems in early childhood years all the way to the teenage years. Another example of addiction harming other people is secondhand smoke. Secondhand tobacco smoke exposes bystanders to at least 250 chemicals that are known to be harmful, particularly to children. Even though these people may have never smoked, they are breathing in these dangerous chemicals which increase the risk of heart disease and lung cancer. In addition to both of those, addiction can increase the spread of infectious diseases. Injection of drugs accounts for 10% of cases of HIV. Also, drugs that are misused can cause intoxication which can lead to misjudgement which increases the chances of sexual behavior. Lastly, addiction increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents. Just like drinking and driving, drugged drinking puts the drive, passengers, and others on the road at risk. Research studies have shown negative effects of marijuana on drivers, including an increase in lane weaving, poor reaction time, and altered attention to the road. So if you ever consider doing drugs, remember it is not only you that you are harming, you are possibly harming many other innocent people as well.
