Chemistry

The Sun is what's known as a star - a star is formed when large amounts of matter are pulled together by each other's gravity and the temperature reaches a point where nuclear reactions can start happening. In our sun, what's happening is that hydrogen is being fused into other atoms such as helium. Doing this lets off a large amount of heat and light.

Is that decent?

Which of the following sample will have the greatest average speed at 355 K?. A. CH4. B. Ne. C. C2H4. D. Cl2
Amanda [17]

Answer:

The correct option is methane :CH_4.

Explanation:

Average speed of the gas molecules id given by expression:

v_{avg}=\sqrt{\frac{8kT}{\pi m}}

k = Boltzmann cosnatnt

T = Temperature of the gas molecules = 355 K

m = molecular mass of the molecule

v_{avg}\propto \sqrt{\frac{1}{m}}

Molar mass of methane = 18 g/mol

Molar mass of neon = 20.18 g/mol

Molar mass of ethene = 28 g/mol

Molar mass of chlorine gas = 70 g/mol

Lower the value of molar mass of gas molecule higher will be the average speed.So, from the given options methane gas greatest average seed because it has lowest molecular mass

If you heat the cup of soup in the microwave to make it boil. Will it have a higher total kinetic energy than the bowl of soup?
Paha777 [63]

No, The kinetic energy depends upon the number of particles motion. The hot bowl of soup will have greater number of particles in motion and it will contain more kinetic energy than the cup of soup.
