Answer:

x=1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given is a picture of a parallelogram ABCD

As per properties of parallelograms opposite sides are parallel and equal.

Two opposite sides are given as 12.

But another pair is given in terms of x as 16+2x and 10+8x

Since opposite sides would be parallel we have

16+2x =10+8x

Simplify to get

6x =6

or x=1

Verify:

The top side = 16+2x =18

The bottom side 10+8x = 10+8 =18

Thus both are equal, thus verified

This shape is a parallelogram and the opposite  sides of a parallelogram

 are of equal length.

10 + 8x = 16 + 2x ⇔ 8x - 2x = 16 - 10 ⇔ 6x = 6 ⇔ x = 6:6 ⇔ x = 1

Drag each measure to a box on the right to match the measure on the left. 5 feet10,560 feet48 inches126 inches 2 miles 123 yards
charle [14.2K]

Answer:

4 feets = 48 inches

2 miles = 10,560 feets

1 2/3 yards = 5 feets

3 1/2 yards = 126 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Recall :

1 Feet = 12 inches

1 MILE = 5280 feets

1 yard = 36 inches

1 yard = 3 feets

If 1 feet = 12 inches

4 feets will be ; (12 * 4) inches = 48 inches

If 1 mile = 5280 feets

2 miles will be ; (5280 * 2) = 10,560 feets

If 1 yard = 3 feets

1 2/3 yards will be ; (5 /3) * 3 = 5 feets

If 1 yard = 36 inches

3 1/2 yards will be ; (7 /2 ) * 36 = 126 inches

the larger of two positive numbers is 5 more then the smaller. The product of the numbers is 66. find the numbers
Serjik [45]

Answer: 30.5 and 35.5

Step-by-step explanation:

We can use a system of linear equations to find out the answer to this problem. The larger number will be x and the smaller number will be y.

x=y+5

x+y=66

Substitute y+5 in for the bottom equation to get y+5+y=66. Simplify to get 2y+5=66. Subtract 5 from both sides and get 2y=61. Divide by 2 to get y=30.5. This is the smaller number. Add 5 to get the bigger number, which is 35.5
