Can pockets of vacuum persist in an ideal gas? Assume that a room is filled with air at 20∘C and that somehow a small spherical

region of radius 1 cm within the room becomes devoid of air molecules. Estimate how long it will take for air to refill this region of vacuum. Assume the atomic mass of air is 29 u.

Answer:

time taken is 20 μs

Explanation:

given data

temperature = 20°C  = 293 K

radius = 1 cm

atomic mass of air = 29 u

to find out

how long it will take for air to refill

solution

we find here rms velocity of air particle that is

\frac{1}{2}mv^2 = \frac{3}{2}RT

here m is mass and t is temperature and v is speed and R is ideal gas constant i.e. 8.3145 (kg·m²/s²)/K·mol

v = \sqrt{\frac{3RT}{M} }  ............................1

v = \sqrt{\frac{3(8.314)293}{29*10{-3}kg} }

v = 501.99 m/s

so now for cover 1 cm

time taken by air

time take = \frac{r}{v}

time taken = \frac{1*10^{-2}m}{501.99}

time taken = 19.92 × 10^{6} s = 20μs

so time taken is 20 μs

Answer:

Once you've had chickenpox you can't again.

Explanation: the virus remains inactive in your nerve tissue. Although it's unlikely you will get chickenpox again, the virus may reactivate later in life and cause a related condition called shingles.

Which of the following is an indicator of good water quality?
Agata [3.3K]
The answer would be: c. High levels of dissolved oxygen

Oxygen is vital for most (aerobic) organism. Fish using oxygen that dissolved in the water so high level of dissolved oxygen will make the fish grow easier. Water with pH of 5 would be an acid water. Acid is corrosive and it can kill some organism that sensitive. High levels of fecal coliform mean the water contaminated with fecal material and must have a high level of bacteria.

An ac generator has a frequency of 5.0 kHz and a voltage of 45 V. When an inductor is connected between the terminals of this ge
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that,

Frequency f = 5 kHz = 5000Hz

Voltage V=45V

Current In inductor I = 65mA

I = 65 × 10^-3 = 0.065A

We want to find inductance L

We know that the reactive inductance cam be given as

XL = 2πFL

Where

XL is reactive inductance

F is frequency

L is inductance

Then,

L = XL/2πF

From ohms law

V = IR

We can calculate the receive reactance of the inductor

V = I•XL

Then, XL = V/I

XL = 45/0.065

XL = 692.31 ohms

Then,

L = XL/2πF

L = 692.31/(2π×5000)

L = 0.02204 H

Then, L = 22.04 mH

The inductance of the inductor is 22.04mH

A spherical balloon is made from a material whose mass is 3.30 kg. The thickness of the material is negligible compared to the 1
stellarik [79]

Answer:

563712.04903 Pa

Explanation:

m = Mass of material = 3.3 kg

r = Radius of sphere = 1.25 m

v = Volume of balloon = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

M = Molar mass of helium = 4.0026\times 10^{-3}\ kg/mol

\rho = Density of surrounding air = 1.19\ kg/m^3

R = Gas constant = 8.314 J/mol K

T = Temperature = 345 K

Weight of balloon + Weight of helium = Weight of air displaced

mg+m_{He}g=\rho vg\\\Rightarrow m_{He}=\rho vg-m\\\Rightarrow m_{He}=1.19\times \frac{4}{3}\pi 1.25^3-3.3\\\Rightarrow m_{He}=6.4356\ kg

Mass of helium is 6.4356 kg

Moles of helium

n=\frac{m}{M}\\\Rightarrow n=\frac{6.4356}{4.0026\times 10^{-3}}\\\Rightarrow n=1607.85489

Ideal gas law

P=\frac{nRT}{v}\\\Rightarrow P=\frac{1607.85489\times 8.314\times 345}{\frac{4}{3}\pi 1.25^3}\\\Rightarrow P=563712.04903\ Pa

The absolute pressure of the Helium gas is 563712.04903 Pa
