WHY?

70 ÷ 10 = 7

5 x 70 = 5 x <u> 7 </u> tens

At the blank space 7.

Because 1 ten = 1 x 10

Therefore, 70 = 7 tens

70 as 7 tens

5 x 70 = 5 x <u> 7 </u> tens  =<u> 35 </u>tens

Because 5 x 7 =35

As we know 35 tens = 350

Because 1 tens = 10

Therefore, 35 tens = 350

Thus, 5x70 = 350
