Answer:

a. in order to calculate this we must assume that the economy entered a recession:

degree of operating leverage = [($20 - $70)/$70] / [($260 - $520)/$520] = -0.7143 / -0.5 = 1.43

b. $14 million

Explanation:

strong economy:

total sales $520 million

<u>variable costs $420 million</u>

gross profit $100 million

<u>fixed costs $30 million</u>

EBIT $70 million

<u>income taxes $21 million</u>

net income $49 million

weak economy:

total sales $260 million

<u>variable costs $210 million</u>

gross profit $50 million

<u>fixed costs $30 million</u>

EBIT $20 million

<u>income taxes $6 million</u>

net income $14 million

At an upscale fast-food restaurant, Shin can buy 3 burgers, 7 shakes, and one cola for $120. At the same place it would cost $16
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

It will cost $31 for a meal of one burger, one shake, and one cola

Explanation:

Let

B = Burgers

S = shakes

C = cola

Now,

According to the question

3B + 7S + 1C = 120                     .............(i)

and

4B + 10S + 1C = 164.50              .............(ii)

Subtracting (i) from (ii)

we get

B + 3S = 44.50

Multiplying the above equation with 2

we have

2B + 6S = 89       ................(iii)

also,

we ca write the equation (1) as

( B + 2B ) + ( 6S + S ) + C = 120

or

B + (2B + 6S) + S + C = 120

substituting the value from equation (iii)

we get

B + 89 + S + C = 120

or

B + S + C = 120 - 89

or

B + S + C = 31

Hence,

It will cost $31 for a meal of one burger, one shake, and one cola

If sales are $540,000, expenses are $440,000 and dividends are $50,000, what is the balance of income Summary prior to closing?
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

d. It will have a credit balance of $100,000.

Explanation:

In the income statement, the total revenues and the total expenses are recorded.

If the total revenues are more than the total expenditure then the company earns net income

And, If the total revenues are less than the total expenditure then the company have a net loss

This net income or net loss would reflect in the statement of the retained earning account.

So, the balance of income summary equals to

= Sales - expenses

= $540,000 - $440,000

= $100,000

The dividend should be deducted from the retained earning account. Hence, it will not be consider here

Which security should sell at a greater price? a. A 9-year Treasury bond with a 9.25% coupon rate or a 9-year T-bond with a 10.2
Andrej [43]

Answer: A 9-year T-bond with a 10.25% coupon

Explanation:

Generally the higher the coupon rate, the higher the price of the bond. This is because the price of a bond is simply the present value of all the expected Cashflow from the bond. If the bond has a higher coupon rate that would mean that more cash will be paid by the bond thereby increasing it's price.

In short, coupon rates and bond prices have a direct relationship.

Oriole Corporation reported $203000 in revenues in its 2021 financial statements, of which $69000 will not be included in the ta
larisa86 [58]

Answer: $17,250

Explanation:

Income Tax Liability is an amount that the company 'owes' the tax man because they did not pay tax on some earnings in a certain year mainly due to differences in Accounting methods.

That means that $69,000 is the tax figure to be focused on as it is the figure that the Income tax liability will be calculated from.

$69,000 is not to be taxed this year but will be paid tax on in 2022.

The tax rate for 2022 is 25%.

The Tax in 2022 is therefore,

= 25% * 69,000

= $17,250

$17,250 is therefore the amount that Oriole Corporation should record as deferred income tax liability in its balance sheet at December 31, 2021.
