Answer: No, those measurements cannot make a triangle

Why not? Because of the fact that the first two sides (5 and 9) add to 5+9 = 14, which is exactly as long as the third side. I recommend you using a ruler to measure out 5 inches, 9 inches and 14 inches. Mark all three as separate segments on a piece of paper. Then cut out those segments to form strips of paper with the given lengths. Then try to form a triangle. You'll find that it is impossible since the smaller segments combine perfectly to get the longest segment. Instead of a triangle, you'll only have a line segment forming.

As a rule, when you add any two sides of a triangle, they must add to something larger than the third side. The rule more formally is

For any triangle with sides a,b,c, the following three inequalities must hold true

  • a+b > c
  • a+c > b
  • b+c > a

Answer:

Any dimensions can make a triangle, however

this does not make a right angled triangle.

Step-by-step explanation:

Determine the length of the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle with side lengths 5ft and 9ft by using the formula:

a^2+b^2=c^2\\

\sqrt{a^2+b^2} = c

c=10.29

This is not equal to 14ft.

Which equation represents the graphed function?
scoundrel [369]

Solution:

we have been asked to find

Which equation represents the graphed function?

As we can see in the graph, the line is passing through the point (2,0) and (0,-3).

As we know the equation of the passing through two points is given by the formula

(y-y_1)=m(x-x_1)\\
\\
m=slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{-3-0}{0-2}=\frac{3}{2}  \\

So the equation of the line will be

y-0=\frac{3}{2}(x-2)\\
\\
y= \frac{3}{2}x-3\\
\\

What is 5.8x10^6 seconds in minutes
Troyanec [42]
Let x be the number of minutes of 5.8*10^6 seconds.
Each minute is made of 60 seconds. Let's then use the rule of three:

60 seconds --> 1 minute
5.8*10^6 --> x minutes

x = (5.8*10^6)*1 / 60
x ≈ 96,666.66 minutes.

So 5.8*10^6 seconds is about 96,666.66 minutes.

Hope this Helps! :)

What is the equation (4, 5) m=-1/4 solved in point slope form?
hammer [34]

Answer:

<h2>y - 5 = -1/4(x - 4)</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The point-slope form of an equation of a line:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

We have m = -1/4 and the point (4, 5). Substitute:

y-5=-\dfrac{1}{4}(x-4)
