Which quadratic evaluation is to (x-4)^2 - (x-4) -6 =0

Mathematics

6 0
We need the chocies but I can factor and solve
subsitute
u=x-4
u^2-u-6=0
what 2 numbers multily to get -6 and add to get -1
-3 and 2
(u-3)(u+2)=0
set to zero

u-3=0
u=3

u+2=0
u=-2

but u=x-4

3=x-4
7=x

-2=x-4
2=x

x=2,7

The diameter is 12 inches. What is the area? What do I do to solve it please help!
SashulF [63]

Answer:

113.04 sq. in.

Step-by-step explanation:

If the diameter of the circle is 12", then the radius is 6" (half the diameter), and the area "A" is (approximately) 3.14 * 6^2. The calculation is approximate because 3.14 is a rounded value for pi.

Determine the sample size needed to construct a 90% confidence interval to estimate the population proportion when p = 0.65 and
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

n=170

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Notation and definitions

n random sample taken (variable of interest)

\hat p=0.65 estimated proportion.

p true population

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The population proportion have the following distribution

p \sim N(p,\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n}})

In order to find the critical value we need to take in count that we are finding the interval for a proportion, so on this case we need to use the z distribution. Since our interval is at 90% of confidence, our significance level would be given by \alpha=1-0.90=0.1 and \alpha/2 =0.05. And the critical value would be given by:

z_{\alpha/2}=\pm 1.64

The margin of error for the proportion interval is given by this formula:

ME=z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{n}}    (a)

And on this case we have that ME =\pm 0.06 and we are interested in order to find the value of n, if we solve n from equation (a) we got:

n=\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{(\frac{ME}{z})^2}   (b)

And replacing into equation (b) the values from part a we got:

n=\frac{0.65(1-0.65)}{(\frac{0.06}{1.64})^2}=169.968

And rounded up we have that n=170

May someone please help me on which to graph?
olga_2 [115]

Answer:

Option (4)

Step-by-step explanation:

Proportional relationship means,

y ∝ x

y = kx

k=\frac{y}{x}

Here, k = proportionality constant

Therefore, if the graph of a line passes through the origin (0, 0) table will represent the proportional relationship.

From table 1,

For a point (1, 2)

k=\frac{2}{1}=2

For another point (3, 2)

k=\frac{3}{2}=1.5

In both the cases 'k' is not same of constant.

Therefore, table (1) is not proportional.

For table (2),

Line passes through (2, 0).

That means there is a x-intercept → (2, 0)

Therefore, table doesn't represent a proportional relationship.

For table (3),

Line passes through a point (0, 1)

It means given line has a y-intercept → y = 1

Therefore, table doesn't represent a proportional relationship.

For table (4),

Line of this table passes through two points (1, 3) and (2, 6)

k=\frac{3}{1}=3

k=\frac{6}{2}=3

Therefore, proportionality constant for the given table is 3.

Now we can graph table (4).
