X/5 = 8/9
this is a proportion, so we cross multiply
(9)(x) = (5)(8)
9x = 40
x = 40/9 or 4 4/9

According to the empirical (69-95-99.7) rule, if a random variable z has a standard normal distribution, then approximately 95%
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Using z-scores, it is found that the value of z is z = 1.96.

Normal Probability Distribution

Problems of normal distributions can be solved using the z-score formula, which for a measure X, in a distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

  • It measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean.
  • Each z-score has an associated p-value, which is the percentile.

  • The normal distribution is symmetric, which means that the middle 95% is between the <u>2.5th percentile and the 97.5th percentile</u>.
  • The 2.5th percentile is Z with a p-value of 0.025, thus Z = -1.96.
  • The 97.5th percentile is Z with a p-value of 0.975, thus Z = 1.96.
  • Thus, the value of Z is 1.96.

Graph this piecewise function:
Pepsi [2]
Consider the function f(x<span>) = 2 x + 1. We recognize the equation y = 2 x + 1 as the Slope-Intercept form of the equation of a line with slope 2 and y-intercept (0,1). Think of a point moving on the </span>graph<span> of f. As the point moves toward the right it rises.
hope this helps

What is the equation of a line that is perpendicular to −x+2y=4 and passes through the point (−2, 1) ? Enter your equation in th
ANTONII [103]
Perpendicular lines have slopes that multiply to get -1
y=mx+b is the slope intercept equation
m=slope

so get into y=mx+b form
-x+2y=4
solve for y
add x both sides
2y=x+4
divide by 2 both sides
y=(1/2)x+2
the slope is 1/2

perppendicular line slope multiplies to -1
1/2 times what=-1
times 2/1 both sides
what=-2/1=-2

y=-2x+b
find b
we are given a point is (-2,1)
when x=-2, y=1
1=-2(-2)+b
1=4+b
minus 3 both sides
-3=b

so the equation is
y=-2x-3

your teacher might want it in standard form (ax+by=c) so
add 2x both sides
2x+y=-3 is an equation

so y=-2x-3 is correct (slope intercept form)
2x+y=-3 is also correct (standard form)

Can someone help me with this?
tatiyna
Yes because PROPORTIONAL means the lines start on the axis which is the zero and it also has to be in a even line so yes it is proportional
