When light propagates through two adjacent materials that have different optical properties, some interesting phenomena occur at

the interface separating the two materials. For example, consider a ray of light that travels from air into the water of a lake. As the ray strikes the air-water interface (the surface of the lake), it is partly reflected back into the air and partly refracted or transmitted into the water. This explains why on the surface of a lake sometimes you see the reflection of the surrounding landscape and other times the underwater vegetation. These effects on light propagation occur because light travels at different speeds depending on the medium. The index of refraction of a material, denoted by n, gives an indication of the speed of light in the material. It is defined as the ratio of the speed of light c in vacuum to the speed v in the material, or n=cv
When light propagates from a material with a given index of refraction into a material with a smaller index of refraction, the speed of the light

Answer:

b. +1

Explanation:

Given,

Speed of light in vacuum = c

Speed of light in any medium = v

Refractive index = n

To find: minimum value of refractive index.

We know that,

n = \frac{c}{v}

We know that speed of light in vacuum is fixed and there is nothing in this universe faster than that so value of c is fixed.

Now, speed of light in any medium can not be greater than the speed of light in vacuum. It means,

c ≥ v

So that means the maximum speed of light in any medium can only be equal to c. Thus minimum value of refractive index is,

n = \frac{c}{c}

n = +1

If the plane is flying in a horizontal path at an altitude of 98.0 m above the ground and with a speed of 73.0 m/s, at what hori
snow_lady [41]

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

     height (h) = 98.0 m,     speed (v) = 73.0 m/s,

Formula of height in vertical direction is as follows.

          h = \frac{gt^{2}}{2},

or,      t = \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}}

Now, formula for the required distance (d) is as follows.

       d = vt

          = v \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}}

        = 73.0 m/s \sqrt{\frac{2 \times 98.0 m}{9.8 m/s^{2}}}

          = 326.5 m

Thus, we can conclude that 326.5 m is the horizontal distance from the target from where should the pilot release the canister.

The bird that migrates the farthest is the Arctic tern. Each year, the Arctic tern travels
Tanzania [10]

Answer: 131.14km per day

Explanation: since the second half of the terns migration takes 122 days we can assume that the full migration would take 244 days. using this we can divide the total distance by the total amount of days it takes (because speed = distance/time) which is 32,000/244, which would be 131.14

snow_tiger [21]

Since the horizontal velocity is what is doubled, that does not affect the fall of the ball, thus the fall is still 5 seconds long.
