The Chloroplast of green plants harbors pigment molecules called Chlorophyll; which has the ability to capture the energy of light. This captured energy is used to generate high energy electrons which reduces NADP+ to NADPH and also produces ATP which are further used to produce sugar(food) in the next stage of photosynthetis called Calvin cycle.
