A flying disk is thrown into the air from a height of 25 feet at a time T=0. The function that models this situation is h(t) = 1

6t 2 squared + 75 t + 25, where T is measured in seconds and H is height in feet. What values of T best describe the times when the disc is flying in the air?

Incorrect question, the correct Question is h(t) = -16t 2 squared + 75 t + 25

Answer:

Therefore,

t = 5 seconds suits the best value.Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The function that models flying disk situation is

h(t)=-16t^{2}+75t=25

Where  is measured in seconds and h is height in feet.

To Find:

What values of T best describe the times when the disc is flying in the air?

t = ? at h(t) = 0

Solution:

The function that models flying disk situation is

h(t)=-16t^{2}+75t+25

Put h(t) = 0

0=-16t^{2}+75t+25

(t-5)(t+\dfrac{5}{16})=0\\\\t = 5\ or\ t =-\dfrac{5}{16}

As t cannot be negative

t = 5 s

Therefore,

t = 5 seconds suits the best value.

I do not understand how to do this problem. I am very confused and need help. <br> x-3/2x+4=-1/2
atroni [7]
X - \frac{3}{2} x + 4 = - \frac{1}{2}

First, simplify \frac{3}{2} x to \frac{3x}{2} / Your problem should look like: x - \frac{3x}{2} + 4 = - \frac{1}{2}
Second, simplify x - \frac{3x}{2} + 4 to - \frac{x}{2} + 4 / Your problem should look like: -\frac{x}{2} + 4 = -\frac{1}{2}
Third, regroup terms. / Your problem should look like: 4 - \frac{x}{2} = - \frac{1}{2}
Fourth, multiply both sides by 2. / Your problem should look like: 8 - x = -1
Fifth, subtract 8 from both sides. / Your problem should look like: -x = -1 - 8
Sixth, simplify -1 - 8 to -9. / Your problem should look like: -x = -9
Seventh, multiply both sides by -1. / Your problem should look like: x = 9

Answer: x = 9

Find the standard form of the equation of the parabola with a focus at (-2, 0) and a directrix at x = 2.
Leokris [45]
Standard form is, hold a sec

x=2 is directix
that means it opens left or right
so we must use
(y-k)²=4p(x-h)
where vertex is (h,k) and p is distance from focus to vertex
also shortest distance from vertex to directix
the shortest distance from focus to directix is 2p
if p>0 then the parabola opens right
if p<0 then pareabola opens left

so
(-2,0) and x=2
the distance is 4
4/2=2
p=2
wait, positive or negative
focus is to the left of the directix so p is negative
p=-2

vertex is 2 to the right of the focus and 2 to the left of directix
vertex is (0,0)

so
(y-0)²=4(-2)(x-0) or
y²=-8x is da equation
not sure what form is standard tho
