Answer:

let the number of cows = x

let the number of chickens = y

since there are 42 heads:

x + y = 42

and since a cow has 4 legs, and a chicken has 2

4x + 2y = 144

from first equation:

x + y  = 42

x = 42 - y (now, we will substitute this in the second equation)

4(42 - y) + 2y = 144

168 - 4y + 2y  = 144

2y = 168 - 144

2y = 24

y = 12

now, we know the number of chickens. we will replace y with 12 in the first equation since it is more simpler

x + 12 = 42

x = 30

So, there are 30 cows and 12 chickens

Andy is building a model of a square pyramid for a class project. The side length of the square base is 11 inches and the slant
zvonat [6]

Answer:

The answer is 792.

Step-by-step explanation:

I got the answer by first imagining how the 3d shape looks ike. Since one of the sqaure base length is 11 I found the base surface area by doing 11 times 11.My answer was 132. The since one of the slant length of the pyramid's triangle is 15, I did 11 times 15, my answer was 165. There are four triangles in the pyramid so I did 165 times 4, my answer was 660.

All the triangle surface area is 660 plus the sqaure surface are which is 132, that gave me my answer 792.

A company manufactures 2,000 units of its flagship product in a day. The quality control department takes a random sample of 40
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

The recommended sample size n for point estimates is:

n = NX / (N + X - 1)

where N is the population size, and X is defined as:

X = Z² p (1 - p) / E²

where Z is the critical value, p is the sample proportion, and E is the margin of error.

Assume a confidence level of level of 95% and a margin of error of 5%.

α = 0.05, Z(α/2) = 1.96

E = 0.05

Of the 40 units tested, 2 had lifespans less than 26 days.  So the proportion is:

p = 2/40 = 0.05

Therefore:

X = (1.96)² (0.05) (1 - 0.05) / (0.05)²

X = 73

Given N = 2000:

n = (2000) (73) / (2000 + 73 - 1)

n = 70.45

Rounding, the recommended sample size is 70.

Duffs Co. is growing quickly. Dividends are expected to grow at a 24% rate for the next three years, with the growth rate fallin
SOVA2 [1]

Based on the fact that Duffs Co. dividends grow at 24% for three years and then 6%, the current share price of the company is $63.29.

<h3>What is Duffs Co. current price?</h3>

First, find the price of the stock in year 3 when the stock grows at 6%:

= (1.90 x 1.24³ x 1.06) / (0.11 - 0.06)

= $76.79

This amount is the terminal value. You are to take the present value of this amount along with the present value of the dividends up to year 3:

= ((1.90 x 1.24) / 1.11) + ((1.90 x 1.24²) / 1.11²) + ((1.90 x 1.24³) / 1.11³) + 76.79 / 1.11³

= $63.29

Please help!!!!!!!!!!
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

557.8 square inches

each square is 5". the base is 4x4 squares- so 20 inches square. 20x20= 400sq inches.

the semicircle at the top is 20 inches in diameter, which makes the radius 10 inches.

pi× 10^2= 314.16.

duvide that by 2 to get a semicircle- 157.8

so, the total area is the 400+ 157.8, for a total area of 557.8 square inches

Consider the initial value problem for the function y given by:
alex41 [277]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a.

An implicit expression is a relation of the form y = f(x) where f is a a function with x as a variable.

\frac{\mathrm{d} y}{\mathrm{d} t}=2y\left ( 1-\frac{y}{4} \right )\\\frac{\mathrm{d} y}{\mathrm{d} t}=\frac{y}{2}(4-y)

On integrating both sides, we get

\int \frac{dy}{y(4-y)}=\int \frac{1}{2}\,dt\\\frac{1}{4}\int \frac{1}{y}+\frac{1}{4-y}\,dy=\frac{1}{2}\,dt\\

We know that \int \frac{dy}{y}=\ln y.

Therefore,

\int \frac{dy}{y(4-y)}=\int \frac{1}{2}\,dt\\\frac{1}{4}\int \frac{1}{y}+\frac{1}{4-y}\,dy=\int \frac{1}{2}\,dt\\\frac{1}{4}\left [ \ln y-\ln (4-y) \right ] =\frac{t}{2}+C

As y(0)=1,

C=-\frac{\ln 3}{4}

So, \frac{1}{4}\left [ \ln y-\ln (4-y) \right ] =\frac{t}{2}-\frac{\ln 3}{4}

b.

\frac{1}{4}\left [ \ln y-\ln (4-y) \right ] =\frac{t}{2}-\frac{\ln 3}{4}\\\ln y-\ln (4-y)=2t-\ln 3\\\ln \left ( \frac{y}{4-y} \right )=2t-\ln 3\\\frac{y}{4-y}=e^{2t-\ln 3}\\y=(4-y)e^{2t-\ln 3}\\y\left ( 1+e^{2t-\ln 3}\\ \right )=4e^{2t-\ln 3}\\y=\frac{4e^{2t-\ln 3}}{1+e^{2t-\ln 3}}
