Answer:

Part (a) = 3:09

Part (b) = 472km

Step-by-step explanation:

Part (a)

Start by adding 54 minutes to 9:15 to make it 10:09. Since there are 60 minutes in an hour, every time that you go above 59.99 minutes you begin a new hour. For example, 9:00 plus 60 minutes is 10:00. While 9:00 plus 59 minutes is 9:59.

So 9:15 plus 45 minutes is 10:00 and 54 minutes minus 45 minutes is 9 minutes so add the additional 9 minutes to 10 to get 10:09. After that, you are just left with hours so 10:09 plus 5 hours is 3:09.

Every time you go past 12:59 you restart at 1:00. So in this example, it would be 10:09 plus 2 hours is 12:09. Then plus another hour to restart at 1:09. Then add the remaining 2 hours to get your final answer of 3:09.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part (b)

There is a common formula in math that is helpful for all math learners to know. It is the distance formula. It is written as

"distance = (rate) multiplied by (time)"

d=rt

d = distance

r = rate (The speed at which something moves, happens, changes or occurs.)

t = time

The rate is given in Part (b): 80km/hour. The time comes from part (a) 5 hours and 54 minutes So, plug in the values of rate and time into the equation:

d = (80km/hour)(5 hours 54minutes)

Now to make this just straightforward multiplication, make the time all in hours, because the rate is in hours. (If the rate was in minutes, you would put time into minutes).

54 minutes is 9/10 of an hour so it can be rewritten as 5 9/10 hour /or/ 5.9 hour

d = (80km/hour)(<em>5 9/10hour</em>)

/or/-whichever way you prefer here

d = (80km/hour)(<em>5.9 hour</em>)

Since the rate is over hour --or you can say the rate is divided by hour since the hour is under it--hour cancels out with the hour in the time when they are multiplied together.

Visualize it as such:

(\frac{80km}{hour})( \frac{5.9hour}{1}) so the hour/hour = 1 /or you could say that they cross cancel because multiplying by 1 does not need to be mentioned.

Therefore, the answer is in km. The total distance the train traveled is: 472km

d = 472 km

Answer:

g(2) = 5

g(-2) = 2

g(-3) = 0

g(5) = 1

g(x) = 0 when x = 3

g(x) = 6 when x = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

Your just finding the values of y when x is unknown or when y is unknown and your trying to find x. f(x) is just a fancy way of saying y.
