Answer:

a=5, b=15

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The figure MNLO is a Kite

so

LO=NO  and MN=LM

we have

LO=7a-14, NO=b+6

7a-14=b+6 -----> equation A

MN=b, LM=3a

b=3a -----> equation B

Solve the system of equations by substitution

Substitute equation B in equation A and solve for a

7a-14=(3a)+6

7a-3a=6+14

4a=20

a=5

Find the value of b

b=3a ----> b=3(5)=15

therefore

a=5, b=15

Use the formula to evaluate the series 1/4 + 1/9 + 1/27 + 1/81.
Dmitriy789 [7]
Is the first term supposed to be 1/4, or did you actually mean 1/3?

I'll assume the latter. Write

S=\dfrac13+\dfrac19+\dfrac1{27}+\dfrac1{81}
S=\dfrac13+\dfrac1{3^2}+\dfrac1{3^3}+\dfrac1{3^4}
\dfrac13S=\dfrac1{3^2}+\dfrac1{3^3}+\dfrac1{3^4}+\dfrac1{3^5}
\implies S-\dfrac13S=\dfrac13-\dfrac1{3^5}
\dfrac23S=\dfrac13\left(1-\dfrac1{3^4}\right)
S=\dfrac12\left(1-\dfrac1{81}\right)
S=\dfrac{40}{81}

What was the error in this equation?
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

The error is the solution.

The solution is all real numbers, or infinite amount of solutions.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Write equation

-4(2n - 3) = 12 - 8n

Step 2: Solve for <em>n</em>

  1. <u>Distribute -4:</u> -8n + 12 = 12 - 8n
  2. <u>Subtract 12 on both sides:</u> -8n = -8n
  3. <u>Add 8n to both sides:</u> 0 = 0

Here we see that <em>n</em> can equal any number. If you plug in any number <em>n</em>, it will render the equation true. Therefore, our solution is n = infinite amount of solutions.

n = 0 is only slightly correct. 0 does work as the solution, but there are solutions as well.
