use systems of equations!

first, rewrite both equations so that the sum or difference includes the same variable.

9-4x=6y\\-4+2x=-3y

notice how i made sure the coefficients that have x and y respectively line up.

with this, i can cancel out the x variables by making 2, and -4 as -8 (8+-8=0).

rewrite the equation.

2(9-4x=6y)\\4(-4+2x=-3y)\\

distribute.

18-8x=12y\\-16+8x=-12y

now we can successfully cancel out the x variable!

18=12y\\-16=-12y

uh oh! it seems we can also cancel out the y variables..

18=0\\-16=0

18 is not equal to 0 and neither is -16. because of this, we can conclude there is no solution for this system of equations.
