Answer:

The founding fathers of the United States did a very good job in shaping the laws of the country, this can be seen in the fact that the U.S. Constitution is the oldest constitution still in place.

The founding fathers shaped the constitution inspired from the ideas of liberal philosophers like John Locke, Montesquieu, and Edmund Burke. They defended the idea of a federal republic, in which several states voluntarilly joined in a republican form of government with separation of powers.

The constitution did have some flaws though, for example, the issue of slavery was not properly established, and this led to the American Civil War decades later.

Besides, twenty seven admendments have been added to the original document in order to meet the national demands of a changing world.

In conclusion, while not a perfect document, the founding fathers did a very good job at writing the constitution.

Allen Lumber Company had earnings after taxes of $750,000 in the year 2015 with 300,000 shares outstanding on December 31, 2015.
GarryVolchara [31]

Answer:

Earning per share for the year 2016 is $2.68

Explanation:

For computing the earning per share, we have to use the formula of earning per share which is shown below:

= Net income ÷ total number of outstanding shares

where,

Net income is $937,500

And, the total number of outstanding shares equals to

= 2015 shares + 2016 shares

= 300,000 + 50,000

= 350,000

Now put these values to the above formula

So, the earning per share would be equals to

= $937,500  ÷ 350,000 shares

= $2.68

The earning after tax is not considered. Thus, it is ignored.

Hence, earning per share for the year 2016 is $2.68

Jabiru Corporation purchased a 20% interest in Fish Company common stock on January 1, 2013 for $300,000. This investment was ac
Vesna [10]

Answer:

$280,950

Explanation:

As for the information given:

Closing balance of investment on 31 December 2015 = $440,000

Now the following adjustments need to be made to calculate the balance as on 1 August 2016

Add: Share of income from Jan to Jul 2016 = $4,000 \times 7 months \times 20% = $5,600

Less: Dividend Received = $20,000 \times 20% = $4,000

Less: Amortization of patent = $6,000/12 \times 7 = $3,500

= $440,000 - $1,900 = $438,100

Since Jabiru sold half of its investment, thus, value of its half of the investment shall be:

$438,100/2 = $219,050

Sale value = $500,000

Thus, gain amount = $500,000 - $219,050 = $280,950
