A music industry researcher wants to estimate, with a 90% confidence level, the proportion of young urban people (ages 21 to 35
Maslowich

Answer:

1,539

Step-by-step explanation:

Using Simple Random Sampling in an infinite population (this is such a large population that we do not know the exact number) we have that the sample size should be the nearest integer to

\large \frac{Z^2pq}{e^2}

where

<em>Z= the z-score corresponding to the confidence level, in this case 90%, so Z=1.645 (this means that the area under the Normal N(0,1) between [-1.645,1.645] is 90%=0.9) </em>

<em>p= the proportion of young urban people (ages 21 to 35 years) who go to at least 3 concerts a year= 35% = 0.35 </em>

<em>q = 1-p = 0.65 </em>

<em>e = the error proportion = 2% = 0.02 </em>

Making the calculations

\large \frac{Z^2pq}{e^2}=\frac{(1.645)^2*0.35*0.65}{(0.02)^2}=1,539.09

So, the sample size should be 1,539 young urban people (ages 21 to 35 years)

X + ky = 1
Marina CMI [18]
X + k y = 1
k x + y = 1  / * ( - k )
----------------
      x + k y = 1
- k² x - k y = - k
--------------------
x - k² x = 1 - k
x ( 1 - k² ) = 1 - k
x = ( 1 - k ) / ( 1 - k² ) = ( 1 - k ) / ( 1 - k ) ( 1 + k )
y = 1 - k( 1 - k )/( 1 - k² )
y = ( 1 - k ) / ( 1 - k² ) = ( 1 - k ) / ( 1 - k ) ( 1 + k )
a ) For  k = - 1 this system has no solution.
b ) For k ≠ - 1 and k ≠ 1, the system has unique solution:
( x , y ) = ( 1/ (1 + k) ,  1/( 1 + k ) ).
c ) For k = 1, there are infinitely many solutions.

The science club has raised $154. 24 to buy food for a polar bear cub at the zoo. It costs $53.55 to feed the cub each week. How
fomenos

Answer:

$59.96

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The science club has raised $154. 24 to buy food for a polar bear cub at the zoo.

It costs $53.55 to feed the cub each week.

Question asked:

How much more money does the club need to raise to feed the cub for one month (four weeks)?

Solution:

Cost of feed for the cub for 1 week = $53.55

Cost of feed for the cub for 4 weeks = $53.55 \times 4 = $214.20

Money raised by the science club = $154. 24

More money needed by science club = Cost of feed for 4 weeks - Money raised by the science club

More money needed by science club = $214.20 - $154. 24

                                                               = $59.96

Thus, the science club will be needed $59.96 more money  for one month (four weeks) feed.
