Officer Franklin is on traffic duty his motorcycle is parked alongside the freeway and he’s using his radar gun to check the spe

ed of cars.
The speed limit on the stretch of this freeway is 75 mph a sports car races by Officer Franklin causing him to lose his grip on the radar gun when he picks it back up he clocks the car at 93 mph as it passes a bridge 1/2 of a mile ahead of him. Use your knowledge of writing equations to help determine the drivers location

A:93
B: slope

the slope is the rate of change of the line. this line models the distance between cop and the driver. note that the cop is standing still while the sports car is moving away at 93 mph

if the x-axis is in hours and the y-axis is in miles, then slope = rise/run = km/h, which is kilometers per hour. the slope is the rate of change of distance for the distance vs time graph

therefore the slope is 93 mph

Morgarella [4.7K]
First find the value of h, or the height using the pythagorean theorem.

13^2=15^2+h^2
289=225+h^2
h^2=64
h=8

Then use the formula bh/2 to find area of the triangle.

10*8/2=40

Maximize and minimize p = x + 2y subject to
Papessa [141]

Answer:

  Minimum: (x, y, p) = (6, 0, 6)

  Maximum: (x, y, p) = (2, 8, 18)

Step-by-step explanation:

I find it easiest to solve problems like this graphically. In the attached graph, we have reversed all of the inequalities, so that the feasible region is white, rather than shaded 4 times. I find this makes it much easier to see. The dashed lines indicate that the boundary lines are part of the feasible region (not part of the space outside the feasible region).

Once the slope of the objective function is determined, it is easy to identify the vertices of the feasible region that will maximize or minimize it. P is minimized when its line is closest to the origin. It is maximized when it is farthest away from the origin.

We find ...

  p is minimized at (x, y) = (6, 0), where p = 6.

  p is maximized at (x, y) = (2, 8), where p = 18.
