Using various techniques of DNA technology, we can introduce deletion and insertion of nucleotides so as to create variations in a particular allele. We often do it when we are doing research on a particular gene. By doing this we can check differential expression of various variants of a gene i.e. alleles. Apart from this, we also do it in gene therapy to cure a disease. Also, in industries we use variant alleles to enhance the yield of important DNA product which is protein.
