I would suggest Solar energy as renewable source of energy to the local government.

Sun is the ultimate source of energy and solar energy is most sustainable energy. This renewable resources are those which can be generated continuously in nature and are inexhaustible.
The solar cells are made of thin wafers of semi conductor materials from silicon and gallium. When the sun's radiation strike on them, the sun's energy is converted into electricity. A group of solar cells joined together in a solar panel can give out a large amount of solar energy to run a power plant.
One reason is that they die and new cells are needed to replace them. If you're cells didn't divide you would die with them. After a while, all cells in you're body are replaced and you are physically not the same man you were before because the set of cells is not the same one.
