An activity designed to introduce the metric system to fourth graders begins by asking students to use metric measurement to mea
mylen [45]

Answer:

This activity suits the interest in real-life experiences that young adolescents demonstrate.

Explanation:

The units of length are the most basic units of measurement which are used commonly in daily life. Weight and temperature are the next units of importance in a person's life.

When people think about distance they visualize what it looks like by comparing with known quantities.

For example, when we 20 fl oz we think about a coke bottle.

So, this thinking needs to be changed to the metric system.

2. How does science supply the data to philosophy for philosophical speculation?
Anestetic [448]
Despite wide recognition that speculation is critical for successful science, philosophers have attended little to it. When they have, speculation has been characterized in narrowly epistemic terms: a hypothesis is speculative due to its (lack of) evidential support. These ‘evidence-first’ accounts provide little guidance for what makes speculation productive or egregious, nor how to foster the former while avoiding the latter. I examine how scientists discuss speculation and identify various functions speculations play. On this basis, I develop a ‘function-first’ account of speculation. This analysis grounds a richer discussion of when speculation is egregious and when it is productive, based in both fine-grained analysis of the speculation’s purpose, and what I call the ‘epistemic situation’ scientists face.

dem82 [27]

Children who commit noncriminal acts such as running away from home, failing to attend school, or violating a curfew receive status offenders designation from the juvenile justice system.

What is juvenile justice system?

The component of the criminal justice system known as juvenile justice deals with offenses committed by adolescents, typically between the ages of 10 and 18 years. The maximum age for eligibility is set by each state's juvenile statute, which varies. Any offense that may be committed by an adult but is instead committed by a juvenile is referred to as a juvenile crime. Curfew violations, running away, truancy, and consuming alcohol while underage are examples of "status offenses" that can only be committed by a juvenile. Youth offenders are not tried as adults in the juvenile justice system; instead, their cases are heard in a special juvenile court.
