You want to be able to estimate the average IQ of people in Winston-Salem. You would be satisfied knowing the average IQ plus-or

-minus 5IQ points(using a 90% confidence interval). The standard deviation for IQ tests is typically 15 points; so you’ll use that as a guideline. How many people would you need to survey in order to be able to estimate the average to your desired degree of accuracy?

Answer:

Sample size = n =25

Explanation:

standard deviation =s = \sigma =15

Margin of error = E = 5 At 90%

confidence level = 1 - 90% = 1 - 0.90 =0.10 /2 = 0.05

Z /2 = Z0.05 = 1.645

sample size n = [Z\alpha/2* \sigma / E] 2 n = ( 1.645*15 / 5)2 n =24.35

Sample size = n =25

WARRIOR [948]

Answer: A case that had to do with contract interference. Pennzoil made an unsolicited bid to buy 20 percent of Getty Oil at $112.50 per share and the Getty Board approved the agreement. Before the lawyers for both side could approve the agreement, Texaco appeared and offered Getty stockholders $128 a share for the entire company. Getty officers turned their attention to Texaco, but Pennzoil sued, claiming tortious interference. Texaco said they had not interfered because there was no binding contract.

Jury agreed with Penzoil's argument--$7.53 million in actual damages and $3 billion more in punitive damages. After appeals and frantic negotiations, the two parties reached a settlement.

Texaco agreed to pay Penzoil $3 billion as a settlement for having wrongfully interfered with Pennzoil's agreement to buy Getty.

What strategy did William of Normandy use to help him win the battle?
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

William used the tactic of a false retreat in an attempt the break the shield wall and lure English troops off the ridge. Harold's brother Tostig, joined forces with Harald Hardrada. The wind changed direction allowing William to sail to England when Harold was in the north defeating Harald Hardrada.

Explanation:

William changed his tactics and moved his archers from the front of the battlefield to behind the infantry. The change in position of the archers meant that, rather than flying over the heads of the horsecars, their arrows hit the Anglo- Saxon army squarely and caught them by surprise.
