Formulate the indicated conclusion in nontechnical terms. Be sure to address the original claim. The foundation chair for a hosp

ital claims that the mean number of filled overnight beds is over 523, and he is therefore justified starting a funding campaign to add a wing to the hospital. Assuming that a hypothesis test of the claim has been conducted and that the conclusion is failure to reject the null hypothesis, state the conclusion in nontechnical terms

Answer:

For this case we want to test if the mean number of filled overnight beds is over 523. If X represent our random variable "number of filled overnight beds", the system of hypothesis are:

Null Hypothesis: \mu \leq 523

Alternative hypothesis: \mu > 523

And for this case after conduct the test is FAIL to reject the null hypothesis. So then we can conclude that the claim that the number of filled overnight beds is over 523 is not statistically supported

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A hypothesis is defined as "a speculation or theory based on insufficient evidence that lends itself to further testing and experimentation. With further testing, a hypothesis can usually be proven true or false".

The null hypothesis is defined as "a hypothesis that says there is no statistical significance between the two variables in the hypothesis. It is the hypothesis that the researcher is trying to disprove".

The alternative hypothesis is "just the inverse, or opposite, of the null hypothesis. It is the hypothesis that researcher is trying to prove".

Solution to the problem

For this case we want to test if the mean number of filled overnight beds is over 523. If X represent our random variable "number of filled overnight beds", the system of hypothesis are:

Null Hypothesis: \mu \leq 523

Alternative hypothesis: \mu > 523

And for this case after conduct the test is FAIL to reject the null hypothesis. So then we can conclude that the claim that the number of filled overnight beds is over 523 is not statistically supported

alexira [117]

solution:

Let x = amount of money gary and henry brought for shopping

x-95=Gary's remaining money

x-350=Henry's remaining money

(4/7)˚(x-95) = x-350

4x -380/7 = x-350

4x – 380 = 7x -2450

3x – 2070 = 0

3x = 2070

X = 690

Gary's money = 690-95=$595

A point is randomly selected on the surface of a lake that has a maximum depth of 150 feet. Let y be the depth of the lake at th
Evgesh-ka [11]

Answer:

a) the possible values of y are all real numbers from 0 to 150.

b) y is a continous variable.

Step-by-step explanation:

If the maximum depth of the lake is 150 feet, in any point selected on the surface, the depth will be between 0 feet (takes this value of depth only at the shore) and 150 feet.

The depth is a physical measure that can be represented as a continous variable.

In that case, the possible values of y are all real numbers from 0 to 150.
