Given that

                                                                  1

John can run 100 meters dash in 16    --------- seconds .

                                                                   5

Savanna 's time is 19.8 seconds .

Here we have John time in mixed fraction and Savanna's time in decimal .

Converting mixed fraction into improper .

      1                      16 * 5     +  1                 80 + 1                 81

16  --------    =     ---------------------------    =   -------------- =   - -----------

     5                           5                                  5                      5

Thus we got John time as 81 /5 seconds .

Converting Savanna's time in fraction , we get

 19 8

----------  seconds .

   10

We have two fractions with different denominator .

One is having denominator 5 and another is having denominator 10 .

We need to make the denominator same of both the fraction .

We need to make denominator 10 .

Multiply John fraction by 2 in both numerator and denominator by 2 to make denominator 10 .

81 * 2               162

----------  =      ------------ seconds .

5 *  2                   10

John is taking less time than Savanna . Thus John is faster .

Difference

198          162            36

-------  -     -------     =  ------- seconds

10              10              10

Thus John is faster by  (36/10 ) seconds  =  3.6 seconds  .

The area of a rectangle field is 4424 m squared. If the width of the field is 56 m, what is its length?
Wewaii [24]
We can divide 4424 by 56 to find our length. 4424/56 is 79. Therefore, the length is 79m. To check our answer, we can multiply 79*56. 79*56 is 4,424.

Answer:

  G7.  (2√3)/3

  G8.  -2+√7

  G9.  (6 +2√2 -3√3 -√6)/7

Step-by-step explanation:

G7.

\dfrac{2}{\sqrt{3}}=\dfrac{2}{\sqrt{3}}\cdot\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}}=\dfrac{2\sqrt{3}}{3}

__

G8.

\dfrac{3}{2 +\sqrt{7}}=\dfrac{3}{2+\sqrt{7}}\cdot\dfrac{2-\sqrt{7}}{2-\sqrt{7}}=\dfrac{6-3\sqrt{7}}{2^2-(\sqrt{7})^2}\\\\=\dfrac{6-3\sqrt{7}}{-3}=\sqrt{7}-2

__

G9.

\dfrac{2-\sqrt{3}}{3-\sqrt{2}}=\dfrac{2-\sqrt{3}}{3-\sqrt{2}}\cdot\dfrac{3+\sqrt{2}}{3+\sqrt{2}}=\dfrac{(2-\sqrt{3})(3+\sqrt{2})}{9-2}\\\\=\dfrac{6+2\sqrt{2}-3\sqrt{3}-\sqrt{6}}{7}

<em>Comment on the problems</em>

In most cases, these expressions are the simplest possible (take the least amount of ink to draw, and take the fewest math operations to evaluate). What seems to be intended is that the denominator be made a rational number. This is done by multiplying the given fraction by a fraction equal to 1 that has the same denominator but with the sign of the radical reversed (unless, as in the first case, the radical is by itself).

The purpose of doing this is to take advantage of the fact that (a-b)(a+b) = a²-b², so if "a" or "b" is a square root, that root will not be seen in the product. In problem G9, we see this can make the numerator quite messy--not exactly a simpler form--but all the irrational numbers are in the numerator.
