11.5*2=23

Then you have to smaller identical triangles with the h =2 and b=(4+4-4)/2=2

A=(1/2)*2*2=2
2*2=4

Then you have a rectangle:

Add all the calculated areas: 
A=23+4+8=35

The area of the shape is therefore 35 cm^2
