Some children are practicing catching baseballs. The coach tosses the ball into the air and hits the ball with his bat. The ball

travels nearly horizontally, directly at the short stop who manages to catch the line drive. Did the coach, via the bat, do any work on the ball as it was hit

Answer:

Work is defined as the amount of movement done by a force, and it can be calculated as:

W = f*d

where W is the work, f is the force and d is the distance.

So when the coach hits the ball, he is appliying some force in the ball (via the bat) that impulses the ball briefly (we can considerate that the force is only applied in a differential of time dt)

But we have a force applied and a displacement of the ball, so yes, the bat does work on the ball.

Answer:

Yes he did

Explanation:

Horizontally speaking, the ball didn't have any speed prior to the bat hit by the coach. After the hit, the ball has horizontal speed, or kinetic energy. This energy must come from the work performed by the coach during the hit. This work is the product of the hit force and and distance it travels during the brief time the ball makes contact with the bat.

A 0.954-kg toy car is powered by three D cells (4.50 V total) connected directly to a small DC motor. The car has an effective e
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

0.06 A

Explanation:

We have given mass =0.954 kg

velocity =1.27 m/sec

efficiency =0.361 the output kinetic energy of the motor KE=\frac{1}{2}mv^2=\frac{1}{2}\times 0.954\times 1.27^2=0.769\ J

Efficiency =0.361

so input to the motor = output/efficiency

so input to the motor = \frac{0.769}{0.361}=2.1301

we know that P=\frac{E}{T} where E is energy and T is time so P=\frac{2.1301}{7.88}=0.2703W

We know that power P=VI we have given V=4.5 VOLT

So current I=\frac{P}{V}=\frac{0.2703}{4.5}=0.06 A

Give some reasons for our knowledge of the solar system has increased considerably in the past few years. Support your response
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

Improvement in observational, and exploratory technology

Rapid increase in knowledge

International collaboration

Explanation:

Our knowledge of the solar system has increased greatly in the past few years due to to some factors which are listed below.

<u>Improvement in observational, and exploratory technology</u>: In recent years, developments in technology has led to the invention of advanced observational instruments and probes, that are used to study the solar system. Also more exploratory units are now developed to go out into the solar system and gather useful data which is then further processed to yield more results about our solar system.

<u>Rapid increase in knowledge:</u> The past few years has seen an increased number of theories proposed to explain phenomena in the solar system. Some of these theories have been seen to be accurate under experimentation, leading to newer and fresher insights into our solar system. Also, new experiments and research are carried out, all these leading to an exponential growth in our knowledge of the solar system.

<u>International Collaboration</u>: The sharing of knowledge by scientists all over has led to a better, quick understanding of the solar system. Also, scientists from  different countries, working together on different experiment and data sharing regarding our solar system now allows our knowledge of the solar system to deepen faster.
