Assume a simple random sample of 10 BMIs with a standard deviation of 1.186 is selected from a normally distributed population o

f recent Miss America winners. Use 0.01 significance level to test the claim that the BMI for recent Miss America winners are from a population with standard deviation of 1.34.
A. Identify the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis.
B. Find the critical value or values.
C. Find the test statistic.

Answer:

a) H0: \sigma = 1.34

H1: \sigma \neq 1.34

b) df = n-1= 10-1=9

And the critical values with \alpha/2=0.005 on each tail are:

\chi_{\alpha/2}= 1.735, \chi_{1-\alpha/2}= 23.589

c) t=(10-1) [\frac{1.186}{1.34}]^2 =7.05

d) For this case since the critical value is not higher or lower than the critical values we have enough evidence to FAIL to reject the null hypothesis and we can conclude that the true deviation is not significantly different from 1.34

Step-by-step explanation:

Information provided

n = 10 sample size

s= 1.186 the sample deviation

\sigma_o =1.34 the value that we want to test

p_v represent the p value for the test

t represent the statistic  (chi square test)

\alpha=0.01 significance level

Part a

On this case we want to test if the true deviation is 1,34 or no, so the system of hypothesis are:

H0: \sigma = 1.34

H1: \sigma \neq 1.34

The statistic is given by:

t=(n-1) [\frac{s}{\sigma_o}]^2

Part b

The degrees of freedom are given by:

df = n-1= 10-1=9

And the critical values with \alpha/2=0.005 on each tail are:

\chi_{\alpha/2}= 1.735, \chi_{1-\alpha/2}= 23.589

Part c

Replacing the info we got:

t=(10-1) [\frac{1.186}{1.34}]^2 =7.05

Part d

For this case since the critical value is not higher or lower than the critical values we have enough evidence to FAIL to reject the null hypothesis and we can conclude that the true deviation is not significantly different from 1.34

babunello [35]

Answer:

Karim

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Turn 2/5 into a percentage by multiplying the numerator and denominators of 2/5 with 20 so the new fraction's denominator can be 100.

2. Your new fraction should be 40/100 also known as 40%.

3. Compare who's probability is more likely.

4. The answer will be (40%) Karim's.

Rewrite f(x) = sin(x) if The function of scratch vertically by a factor of 5
adoni [48]

let's not scratch sin(x), she may not like it anyway, but let's do some stretching by checking this template

\bf ~~~~~~~~~~~~\textit{function transformations} \\\\\\ f(x)=Asin(Bx+C)+D \\\\ f(x)=Acos(Bx+C)+D\\\\ f(x)=Atan(Bx+C)+D \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ \bullet \textit{ stretches or shrinks}\\ ~~~~~~\textit{horizontally by amplitude } A\cdot B\\\\ \bullet \textit{ flips it upside-down if }A\textit{ is negative}\\ ~~~~~~\textit{reflection over the x-axis} \\\\ \bullet \textit{ flips it sideways if }B\textit{ is negative}\\ ~~~~~~\textit{reflection over the y-axis}

\bf \bullet \textit{ horizontal shift by }\frac{C}{B}\\ ~~~~~~if\ \frac{C}{B}\textit{ is negative, to the right}\\\\ ~~~~~~if\ \frac{C}{B}\textit{ is positive, to the left}\\\\ \bullet \textit{vertical shift by }D\\ ~~~~~~if\ D\textit{ is negative, downwards}\\\\ ~~~~~~if\ D\textit{ is positive, upwards}\\\\ \bullet \textit{function period or frequency}\\ ~~~~~~\frac{2\pi }{B}\ for\ cos(\theta),\ sin(\theta),\ sec(\theta),\ csc(\theta)\\\\ ~~~~~~\frac{\pi }{B}\ for\ tan(\theta),\ cot(\theta)

A = 1/5, so then .......... \bf g(x)=\cfrac{1}{5}sin(x)

Which equation has no solution?<br> A. <br><br> B. <br><br> C. <br><br> D.
mestny [16]

Answer:

Option C, 5.1 + 2y + 1.2 = -2 + 2y + 8.3

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Option C, since when you subtract and try to get y by itself, the y variable will disappear which means there is no solution.</u>

<u />

6.3 + 2y - 2y - 6.3 = 6.3 + 2y - 2y - 6.3

<em>0 = 0</em>
