Discuss what trophic level humans occupy on an ecological pyramid, and explain what happens to contaminants and environmental pollution (such as mercury) as you move down and up the ecological pyramid (what is this called?)

Humans technically occupy the Tertiary level, as Humans are considered to be at the top of the food chain. As contaminates move up the pyramid it's called "biomagnification", as the concentration of contaminate in ppm increases; and as it move down, the concentration of contaminate decreases.
