As part of a blood drive on campus for the American Red Cross, you and your friends have just donated 500 ml of blood. You are n

ow relaxing at the student lounge, waiting for A&P lab to begin. Unfortunately, even though you are thirsty, you haven't bothered to buy yourself a drink. Other than a little soreness of the skin and tissue around your median cubital vein, you feel fine. How has your 500 ml decrease in blood volume most likely affected your cardiac output, heart rate, and stroke volume?
A) no change in cardiac output, decreased heart rate, increased stroke volume
B) decrease in cardiac output, decreased heart rate, decreased stroke volume
C) increase in cardiac output, increased heart rate, increased stroke volume

D) no change in cardiac output, increased heart rate, decreased stroke volume occurs after blood donation

Explanation:

When a person donates blood, there is a slight loss of blood volume or hypovolemia. This triggers the baroreceptors of the blood; although does not trigger the osmoreceptor.

The baroreceptor responses are according to the arterial pressure which rises momentarily and results in increased sympathetic activity with decreased vagal activity.

These changes will lead to vasoconstriction, reduced stroke volume, increased heart rate or tachycardia which helps to maintain the cardiac output.

The soreness at the venepuncture site on the skin is due to bruising which is common after any needleprick. applying cold pack, elevating and resting the arm.

In order to compensate for the fluid volume loss and avoid dehydration, one must take plenty of fluids before and after blood donation.

Name to types of evidence that scientist used to support the theory of evolution?
Sergio [31]
Evidence of evolution. Scientists support the evidence of evolution because of the adaptations organisms used to have in the past compared to the present. For example, humans have organs in their bodies they don't need, but must have been used in ancient times. They can also find that humans have a common ancestor such as monkeys because of the DNA similarities and many adaptations. Hopefully this answered most of your question.

In humans, blue eyes are caused by a recessive allele ("b") that dilutes pigment production. BB and Bb individuals have brown ey
saveliy_v [14]

Answer:

Probability that the son will be:

color-blind = 1/2

blue eyed = 1/8

blue eyed and color-blind = 1/16

Explanation:

Mother : BbXcX

Father : BbXY

Colorblindness is X linked recessive trait hence will be caused when the son has XcY genotype.

XcX   X    XY :

     Xc    X

X  XcX  XX

Y   XcY  XY

Half of the sons will have normal vision and other half will be colorblind hence, there is 1/2 probability that the son will be colorblind.

Eye color is autosomal trait and blue color will be produced when the child has bb genotype.

Bb     X    Bb  :

   B    b

B  BB  Bb

b  Bb   bb

1/4 of the children will have blue eyes. Since half of the children are expected to be males, 1/4 * 1/2 = 1/8 sons are expected to have blue eyes.

Probability of a son being blue eyed and color blind will be :

1/8 * 1/2 = 1/16
