3 1/3 feet are cut off a board that is 12 1/4 feet long.How long is the remaining
laiz [17]

Answer:

8\frac{11}{12}

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to answer this question you will have to subtract 3 1/3 from 12 1/4 by turning the mixed fractions into improper fractions, finding the common denominator, (CD) then subtracting the numerators.

12 \frac{1}{4} - 3\frac{1}{3}

Turn the mixed fractions into improper fractions:

12\frac{1}{4} = \frac{49}{4}

3\frac{1}{3} = \frac{10}{3}

\frac{49}{4} -\frac{10}{3}

Find the common denominator:

4\times3=12

3\times4=12

CD=12

49 \times 3 =147

=\frac{147}{12}

10\times4=40

=\frac{40}{4}

Now subtract the numerators:

147-40=107

=\frac{107}{12}

Turn the improper fraction into a mixed fraction:

\frac{107}{12} =8\frac{11}{12}

=8\frac{11}{12}

Hope this helps.

The first leg of the graph represents Manuel riding his bike for 3 units of time going 5 units distance gradually increasing his speed.  The second line segment represents Manuel staying where he his for 4 1/2 units of time.  The third represents Manuel going a fast speed back to where he started.  I think.

Or the first is him going that distance picking up speed, the second him going a constant speed, and the third him slowing down/speeding up.
