Centripetal acceleration is the motion inwards towards the center of a circle. It is given by the square of velocity, divided by the radius of the circular path.
ac = v²/r, where ac is the centripetal acceleration in m/s²
Therefore,
Centripetal acceleration = 3²/20m
                           = 9/20m
                            = 0.45 m/s²
Thus, the centripetal acceleration is 0.45 m/s²

Answer: Centripetal acceleration, a=0.45m/s²

Explanation:

Centripetal force is a force that causes a body( such as car) to move in a circular motion.

F= mv²/r

And its acceleration is called centripetal acceleration.

F=ma

ma= mv²/r

a= v²/r

Given that v=3m/s and r= 20m

a= 3²/20 =9/20

a= 0.45m/s².

Therefore the centripetal acceleration of the car is 0.45m/s²

A net force of 50 N causes a mass to accelerate at a rate of 6.8 m/s2. Determine the mass.
Taya2010 [7]
  • Force=50N
  • Acceleration=6.8m/s^2

\\ \sf\longmapsto F=ma

\\ \sf\longmapsto m=\dfrac{F}{a}

\\ \sf\longmapsto m=\dfrac{50}{6.8}

\\ \sf\longmapsto m=7.3kg

Calculate the pressure, in atmospheres, exerted by each of the following:
gregori [183]

Answer:

a) 14.2 atm

b) 4.46 atm

c) 1.06 atm

Explanation:

For an ideal gas,

PV = nRT

P = pressure of the gas

V = volume occupied by the gas

n = number of moles of the gas

R = molar gas constant = 0.08206 L.atm/mol.K

T = temperature of the gas in Kelvin

a) For HF,

P =?, V = 2.5L, n = 1.35 moles, T = 320K

P = 1.35 × 0.08206 × 320/2.5

P = 14.2 atm

b) For NO₂

P =?, V = 4.75L, n = 0.86 moles, T = 300K

P = 0.86 × 0.08206 × 300/4.75

P = 4.46 atm

c) For CO₂

P =?, V = 5.5 × 10⁴ mL = 55L, n = 2.15 moles, T = 57°C = 330K

P = 2.15 × 0.08206 × 330/55

P = 1.06 atm
