You enter a relay race. To start, you must run 20 yards to Checkpoint A. You then must turn and run 12 yards to Checkpoint B. La

st, you must turn and run back to the starting line. What is the distance from Checkpoint B to the starting line? THANKS :)

Distance to checkpoint A from starting line = 20 yards.

Then from A to B distance = 12 yards.

Let us take starting point C.

So, it would make a right triangle.

We have AB = 12, AC = 20, we need to find BC, that is Hypotenuse of the right triangle.

According to Pythagoras theorem:

BC^2 = AB^2+AC^2

BC^2 = 12^2+20^2

BC^2 = 144 +400 = 544

BC= \sqrt{544}

BC = 23.32.

<h3>Therefore,  23.32 yards is the distance from Checkpoint B to the starting line.</h3>

Answer:

The shortest distance between checkpoint A and checkpoint B is 23.33 yards.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

Let O be the starting point.

Distance between the starting point and checkpoint A = 20 yards

To reach checkpoint B, one need to take a turn and let it be a 90 degrees turn toward right or left.

Distance between checkpoint A and checkpoint B = 12 yards

In order to find the shortest distance between the checkpoint A and checkpoint B, the displacement, we use the Pythagoras theorem.

Statement:

In  a right angled triangle:

(Side 1)^2 + (Side 2)^2 = (Hypotenuse)^2

(OA)^2 + (AB)^2 = (AB)^2\\(20)^2 + (12)^2 = (AB)^2\\400 + 144 = (AB)^2\\(AB)^2 = 544\\AB = \sqrt{544} \approx 23.33

Hence, the shortest distance between checkpoint A and checkpoint B is 23.33 yards.

Find x. <br> Side splitter theorem
professor190 [17]

Answer:

x = 9

Step-by-step explanation:

The outer and inner triangles are similar, thus the ratios of corresponding sides are equal, that is

\frac{8}{8+4} = \frac{x-3}{x} , that is

\frac{8}{12} = \frac{x-3}{x} ( cross- multiply )

12(x - 3) = 8x

12x - 36 = 8x ( subtract 8x from both sides )

4x - 36 = 0 ( add 36 to both sides )

4x = 36 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = 9

Solve the equation by finding the common denominator. two and four sevenths plus seven and three ninths equals blank
kotegsom [21]

Answer:

9 19/21

Step-by-step explanation:

2 and 4/7 + 7 3/9 or 7 1/3. If you find common denominator its 21. So 2 and 12/21 and 7 7/21. If you add that would equal 9 19/21.

Hope this helps :)

What times what equals 216
BARSIC [14]
<span>The question ask us to find the products which equals 216. First we have to factorize 216: 216 = 2*2*2*3*3*3. So: 216 = 1 * 216; 216 = 2 * 108; 216 = 3 * 72; 216 = 4 * 54 ; 216 = 6 * 36; 216 = 8 * 27; 216 = 9 * 24 ; 216 = 12 * 18. And because of a commutative property: 216 = 18 * 12 ; 216 = 24 * 9 ; 216 = 27 * 8 ; 216 = 36 * 6 ; 216 = 54 * 4 ; 216 = 72 * 3 ; 216 = 108 * 2; 216 = 216 * 1.</span>
