C_5H_{11}N + H2O ---\ \textgreater \ C_5H_{11}NH^{+} + OH^{-}

Nitrogen lone pair will act as a base, removing H+ from water leaving behind OH- ion.
Why ?
Because N is a better donor than O.

How do the number of electrons in the second energy shell of an atom change going across period 2 in the periodic table?
KiRa [710]

How do the number of electrons in the second energy shell of an atom change going across period 2 in the periodic table?

The answer is: A. The number of electrons increases by 1, from left to right.

B is wrong because atoms in period 2 DO have a second energy shell. For C, the number of electrons in the second energy shell is NOT full. For D, it is wrong to state that the number of electrons increases by 1, from right to left.

The solubility of acetanilide in hot water (5.5 g/100 ml at 100∘C) is not very great, and its solubility in cold water (0.53 g/
Olin [163]

Answer:

89.4%

Explanation:

Initially, there is 5.0 of the acetanilide in 100 mL of water, then the solution is chilled at 0ºC. The solubility represents the amount that the solvent (water) can dissolve of the solute (acetanilide). So, at 0ºC, 100 mL of water can dissolve till 0.53 g of the compound, the rest will precipitate and will be recovered.

So, the mass that is recovered is 5.0 - 0.53 = 4.47 g

The percent recovery is:

(4.47/5)x100% = 89.4%

Which of the following is a universal solvent?
H2O
H2O2
C2H5OH
HCl
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

H₂O

Explanation:

H₂O is the chemical formula of water.

Water is regarded as a "universal solvent". The reason behind this is the property of the water. Water is a solvent that can dissolve a variety of substances in itself. Any other liquid cannot dissolve the number of substances that the solvent water can. The reason behind being the universal solvent is the chemical composition and physical characteristics of water.
