Answer:

      x = 32

Rearrange:

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the equal sign from both sides of the equation :

                    5/8*x+4-(3/8*x+12)=0

Step by step solution :

Step  1  :

           3

Simplify   —

           8

Equation at the end of step  1  :

   5         3

 ((—•x)+4)-((—•x)+12)  = 0

   8         8

Step  2  :

Rewriting the whole as an Equivalent Fraction :

2.1   Adding a whole to a fraction

Rewrite the whole as a fraction using  8  as the denominator :

         12     12 • 8

   12 =  ——  =  ——————

         1        8

Equivalent fraction : The fraction thus generated looks different but has the same value as the whole

Common denominator : The equivalent fraction and the other fraction involved in the calculation share the same denominator

Adding fractions that have a common denominator :

2.2       Adding up the two equivalent fractions

Add the two equivalent fractions which now have a common denominator

Combine the numerators together, put the sum or difference over the common denominator then reduce to lowest terms if possible:

3x + 12 • 8     3x + 96

———————————  =  ———————

     8             8

Equation at the end of step  2  :

   5               (3x + 96)

 ((— • x) +  4) -  —————————  = 0

   8                   8

Step  3  :

           5

Simplify   —

           8

Equation at the end of step  3  :

   5               (3x + 96)

 ((— • x) +  4) -  —————————  = 0

   8                   8

Step  4  :

Rewriting the whole as an Equivalent Fraction :

4.1   Adding a whole to a fraction

Rewrite the whole as a fraction using  8  as the denominator :

        4     4 • 8

   4 =  —  =  —————

        1       8

Adding fractions that have a common denominator :

4.2       Adding up the two equivalent fractions

5x + 4 • 8     5x + 32

——————————  =  ———————

    8             8

Equation at the end of step  4  :

 (5x + 32)    (3x + 96)

 ————————— -  —————————  = 0

     8            8

Step  5  :

Step  6  :

Pulling out like terms :

6.1     Pull out like factors :

  3x + 96  =   3 • (x + 32)

Adding fractions which have a common denominator :

6.2       Adding fractions which have a common denominator

Combine the numerators together, put the sum or difference over the common denominator then reduce to lowest terms if possible:

(5x+32) - (3 • (x+32))     2x - 64

——————————————————————  =  ———————

          8                   8

Step  7  :

Pulling out like terms :

7.1     Pull out like factors :

  2x - 64  =   2 • (x - 32)

Equation at the end of step  7  :

 2 • (x - 32)

 ————————————  = 0

      8

Step  8  :

When a fraction equals zero :

8.1    When a fraction equals zero ...

Where a fraction equals zero, its numerator, the part which is above the fraction line, must equal zero.

Now,to get rid of the denominator, Tiger multiplys both sides of the equation by the denominator.

Here's how:

 2•(x-32)

 ———————— • 8 = 0 • 8

    8

Now, on the left hand side, the  8  cancels out the denominator, while, on the right hand side, zero times anything is still zero.

The equation now takes the shape :

  2  •  (x-32)  = 0

Equations which are never true :

8.2      Solve :    2   =  0

This equation has no solution.

A a non-zero constant never equals zero.

Solving a Single Variable Equation :

8.3      Solve  :    x-32 = 0

Add  32  to both sides of the equation :

                     x = 32

One solution was found :

                  x = 32

Solve for x: −2(x + 3) = −4(x + 1) − 4
Stolb23 [73]

Hello! My name is Chris and I’ll be helping you with this problem.

Date: 9/27/20  Time:

Answer:

x = -1

Explanation:

Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.

−2(x+3)=−4(x+1)−4

(−2)(x)+(−2)(3)=(−4)(x)+(−4)(1)+−4(Distribute)

−2x+−6=−4x+−4+−4

−2x−6=(−4x)+(−4+−4)(Combine Like Terms)

−2x−6=−4x+−8

−2x−6=−4x−8

Step 2: Add 4x to both sides.

−2x−6+4x=−4x−8+4x

2x−6=−8

Step 3: Add 6 to both sides.

2x−6+6=−8+6

2x=−2

Step 4: Divide both sides by 2.

2x  = -2

/2      /2

x=−1

I hope this helped answer your question! Have a great rest of your day!

Furthermore,

Chris

Yuson used her calculator to solve the equation 4/5x - 8 = 3. She entered the following on her screen and got an incorrect answe
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

55/4

Explanation:

Let's solve your equation step-by-step.

4 /5x−8=3

Step 1: Add 8 to both sides.

4 /5x−8+8=3+8

4 /5 x = 11

Step 2: Multiply both sides by 5/4.

( 5 /4 )*( 4 /5 x)=( 5 /4 )*(11)

x=  55/4

Answer:

x=

55 /4

Hope that helps :)

Explain when the median of a data set is a better measure of center than the mean.
shusha [124]
With data, you can have outliers. Outliers are values that do not follow what the range or majority of the data you collected so a value of 45, 42, 45, 48, 42, 44, 88, the mean will obviously be different because the 88 is going to change the whole data. But, if you put it from least to greatest, you can see what the majority of data is, (what the middle value is) to see what is in the middle range of what you have collect- the outliers don't affect what you have. Hence, 42, 42, 44, 45, 45, 88 (it's not much data) but it can show what the majority of data is. Hope this helps :> :)

Show your work for -4x+3(2x-5)=31
mina [271]

Step-by-step explanation:

- 4x + 3(2x - 5) = 31 \\  - 4x + 6x - 15 = 31 \\ 2x - 15 = 31 \\ 2x = 31 + 15 \\ 2x = 46 \\ x = 46 \div 2 \\ x = 23

What are the missing reasons in the two-column proof?
Nesterboy [21]

Reasons:

1. Because, MO cuts Angle PMN in two equal parts.

2.As ∠PMN is cut in to equal parts thus:

∠PMN = ∠NMO + ∠PMO, where these two parts (∠NMO, ∠PMO) are equal.

3. Both are the same, common you can say..

4. Because, MO cuts Angle PON in two equal parts.

5. As ∠PON is cut in to equal parts thus:

∠PON = ∠NOM + ∠POM, where these two parts (∠NOM , ∠POM) are equal.

6. From the above statements, we have:

= ∠NMO + ∠PMO (Proved)

= ∠NOM + ∠POM (Proved)

= MO = MO (Proved)

Thus, ∆PMO ≅ ∆NMO, by AAS rule
