I believe you meant f(x) = x^2 - 3x - 10.
                                                              f(b) - f(a)
The ave. r. of c. formula is     a. r. c = -----------------
                                                                 b -a
                               (6)^2 - 3(6) - 10 - [(4)^2 - 3(4) - 10]
Here,   a. r. c. =   ------------------------------------------------------
                                                      6-4
                                           36 - 18 -10 - 16 + 12 + 10
... which comes out to ---------------------------------------
                                                                2

                a. r. c. = 7             for x^2 - 3x - 10 on the interval [4,6]

A die is rolled twice. what is the probability of showing a 3 on both rolls?
jonny [76]
The probability of showing a 3 on the first roll is 1/6.
The probability of showing a 3 on the second roll is 1/6.

Because the two rolls are independent events, the probability of showing a 3 on both rolls is
(1/6)*(1/6) = 1/36

Answer: 1/36

Can anyone please help me with this?
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

a) x > 1.5

b) -4 < x < 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that function is a third order polynomial, it can be factorized:

h(x) = (x+4)\cdot (x-1.5)\cdot (x -1)

The following inequation must be analyzed to determine which sections are above sea level:

(x+4)\cdot (x-1.5)\cdot (x-1) >0

By Algebra, it is known that product between three positive numbers or two negative numbers and a positive number are equal to a positive number. Then, there are only two trails:

a) x > 1.5

b) -4 < x < 1

Sec 11pi/3
djyliett [7]
I prefer the word "coterminal" to equivalent; coterminal angles have all the same values for their trig functions.  They differ by 2\pi k, \quad integer k.

\sec \dfrac{11 \pi}{3} = \sec\left( \dfrac{ 11 \pi}{3} - 4\pi \right) = \sec\left( \dfrac{ 11 \pi}{3} - 4\pi \right) = \sec\left( \dfrac{ 11 \pi}{3} - \dfrac{12\pi}{3} \right)

= \sec\left(-\dfrac{\pi}{3}\right) = \dfrac{1}{\cos(-\frac{\pi}{3})} = \dfrac{1}{\cos \frac \pi 3}= \dfrac{1}{\frac 1 2} = 2

Determine the holes, vertical asymptotes and horizontal asymptotes of the rational function y=(3x^2+10x-8)/(x^2+7x+12)
umka2103 [35]
First, we have to factor both the numerator and the denominatory= \frac{(3x-2)(x+4)}{(x+3)(x+4)}

A hole in a rational function is defined as any input that leads to the numerator and denominator to equal zero as such, x=-4

The vertical asymptote can be found at x=-4 and x=-3

The horizontal asymptote since the numerator has the same degree as the denominator there is a horizontal asymptote. which is at y= 3
