Area of the figure = Area of semicircle + area of rectangle

Area of semicircle:

d = 14 mm

r = 14/2 = 7 mm

Area = (1/2)πr²

=\frac{1}{2}*\frac{22}{7}*7*7\\

=11 *7

= 77 mm²

Area of rectangle:

length = 14 mm

Width = 10 mm

Area = length *width

       = 14 * 10

       = 140 mm²

Area of the figure = 77 + 140 = 217 mm²

b) The expected value of x is defined as

c) The variance of x is defined as
