The length of a rectangular garden is 8 feet longer than its width. the garden's perimeter is 184 feet. find the length of the g
Brilliant_brown [7]
Width:  W
Length:  L = W + 8

Perimeter = 2W + 2L = 2(W) + 2(W+8) = 184 (ft)

Solving for W:  2W + 2W + 16 = 184 (ft)
                          4W = 168 ft, and so  W = 42 ft.

The length, L, is (42 + 8) ft = 50 ft.    (answer)

The length of a rectangle is 4 units less than the width. The area of the rectangle is 21 units. What is the length, in units, o
bazaltina [42]

The formula of an area of a rectangle:

A = wl

We have l = w - 4 and A = 21.

Substitute:

w(w - 4) = 21       <em>use distributive property</em>

(w)(w) + (w)(-4) = 21

w² - 4w = 21     <em>subtract 21 from both sides</em>

w² - 4w - 21 = 0

w² - 7w + 3w - 21 = 0

w(w - 7) + 3(w - 7) = 0

(w - 7)(w + 3) = 0 ↔ w - 7 = 0 ∨ w + 3 = 0

w = 7 ∨ w = -3 < 0

l = w - 4 → l = 7 - 4 = 3

<h3>Answer: the length = 3 u.</h3>

This is what I need to know
I am Lyosha [343]
\bf \begin{array}{ccllll}&#10;\$&minutes\\&#10;\textendash\textendash\textendash\textendash\textendash\textendash&\textendash\textendash\textendash\textendash\textendash\textendash\\&#10;920,000&46,000,000\\&#10;x&1&#10;\end{array}\implies \cfrac{920,000}{1}=\cfrac{46,000,000}{x}
so solve for "x", to see how much is the company paying for the purchase of 1 minute

now, they're plan to sell the minute for 8cents, how much is the profit?
that is, the difference from their cost of the cents to the planned selling price.

bear in mind, is 46,000,000 minutes, so whatever value you get for 1minute,
you need to multiply it for 46,000,000 to get the actual cost.

and the revenue from the sell of 8cents per minute, is of course, 8 * 46,000,000

profit = revenue - cost
