For centuries after Isaac Newton studied gravity, scientists accepted that gravity only exists between two objects that each hav

e mass. However, new observations in the early twentieth century showed that even though light has no mass, it bends toward a planet as though it is forced by gravity. Albert Einstein used this observation, along with mathematical reasoning and many other observations, to redefine gravity and explain why both light and matter experience gravity’s effects. Einstein’s idea predicted many complex behaviors of nature that were later discovered, and because his idea consistently explains so many different observations it is now the basis for much of modern physics.
Which best describes Einstein’s new explanation of light and gravity?
a) Einstein created a new law, because his explanation of the interaction between light and gravity provided unity amongst many facts.
b) Einstein created a new law, because he discussed only light, mass, and gravity and made an easily observable, factual statement about them.
c) Einstein created a new theory, because his explanation of the interaction between light and gravity provided unity amongst many facts.
d) Einstein created a new theory, because he discussed only light, mass, and gravity and made an easily observable, factual statement about them.

Using F=ma, explain why a train is more difficult to start moving and more difficult to bring to a stop than an average sized ca
seropon [69]

Answer:

M_Train>> m_car    a_train <a_car

Explanation:

To start the movement of the train or the car, the motorcycle applies a force on the wheels, which starts the acceleration in the case of the train, it has a much greater mass than that of the car, for which to obtain the same acceleration necessary a much greater force

         a = F / m

as the mass of the train is greater than that of the car.

         a_train <a_car

Something similar happens when the vehicles stop, the engine stops applying force forward and the brakes apply a force backward that creates a negative acceleration that slows down, again as the mass of the train is much greater than the of the car its negative acceleration is much less.

It is good to clarify that to compensate for this the trains have a braking system on all wheels

The answer I believe is c
Explanation
During the day when temperatures are higher, the snow melts and water enters the cracks in the rock. When the temperature drops below 0°C the water in the crack freezes and expands by about 9 per cent. This makes the crack larger.

A 40.0 turn coil of wire of radius 3.0 cm is placed between the poles of an electromagnet. The field increases from 0 to 0.75 T
nadezda [96]

Answer:

Induced emf, V=3.76\times 10^{-4}\ V

Explanation:

We have,

Number of turns in the coil, N = 40

Radius of coil, r = 3 cm = 0.03 m

The field increases from 0 to 0.75 T at a constant rate in a time interval of 225 s.

It is required to find the magnitude of the induced emf in the coil if the field is perpendicular to the plane of the coil. The induced emf is given by :

\epsilon=\dfrac{d\phi}{dt}

\phi=NBA\cos\theta, is magnetic flux

\epsilon=NA\dfrac{dB}{dt}\\\\\epsilon=\dfrac{40\times \pi (0.03)^2\times (0.75-0)}{225}\\\\\epsilon=3.76\times 10^{-4}\ V

So, the magnitude of induced emf is 3.76\times 10^{-4}\ V.

7. How much thermal energy is absorbed when 10.0 g of ice at 0.0 degrees C changes phase to liquid water at 0.0 degrees C? The m
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

3.34 kJ

Explanation:

FIrst of all, we need to calculate the number of moles corresponding to 10.0g of ice. This is given by

n=\frac{m }{M_m}

where

M_m = 18.02 g/mol is the molar mas

m = 10.0 g is the mass

Substituting

n=\frac{m}{M_m}=\frac{10 g}{18.02 g/mol}=0.555 mol

Now we know that the heat of fusion is

H_{fus}=6.01 kJ/mol

so the thermal energy needed to fuse the ice is

Q=n H_{fus} = (0.555 mol)(6.01 kJ/mol)=3.34 kJ
