What the y-intercept of (8,0) and (3,7)
Anettt [7]

Answer:

\sf \bf y - intercept = \dfrac{56}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

Y-intercept:

   (8,0)  ; x₁ = 8 & y₁ = 0

   (3,7)   ; x₂= 3  & y₂ = 7

  • First find the slope of the line.

      \sf \boxed{\bf Slope =\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}}

                  \sf = \dfrac{7 - 0}{3 - 8}\\\\ =\dfrac{7}{-5}\\\\=\dfrac{-7}{5}

 slope y-intercept form of the line:  y = mx + b

Substitute the slope and x and y in the above equation. We can choose anyone of the given points.

     0 = \dfrac{-7}{5}*8 + b\\\\0=\dfrac{-56}{5}+b\\\\\dfrac{56}{5}=b\\\\ \boxed{\bf b = \dfrac{56}{5}}

Please help!! The slope of the line passing through the points (-3, 4) and (4, -1) is ___.
oksano4ka [1.4K]
I hope this helps you

slope=m

(-3,4) x'=-3 y'=4

(4,-1) x"=4 y"=-1

slope formula :

m. (x'-x")=y'-y"

m. (-3-4)=4-(-1)

m.-7=4+1

m=-5/7

Write an equation of the line, in point-slope form, that passes through the two given points.
EleoNora [17]
(-2,15)(9,-18)
slope = (-18 - 15) / (9 - (-2) = -33/11 = -3

There can be 2 answers to this question....
point slope form : y - y1 = m(x - x1)

(1) using points (-2,15)...
     y - 15 = -3(x + 2) <== one possible answer

(2) using points (9,-18)
     y + 18 = -3(x - 9) <== another possible answer

What is the equation of a line going through points (-15,70) and (5,10)
andrey2020 [161]
Simple....

you have:

(-15,70) and (5,10)

Using-->>

\frac{  y_{1} -y_{2} }{ x_{1}-  x_{2} }

\frac{70-10}{-15-5} = \frac{60}{-20} = -3

Using y=mx+b...and any of the coordinates....

70= -3(-15)+b

70=45+b

70=45+b
-45  -45

25=b

y=-3x+25

Thus,your answer.
