4/9 divided by ? equals 12
emmasim [6.3K]
4/9 ÷ x = 12
u always do the opposite, in an equation/inequality.
multiply 4/9 on both sides.
4/9 * 12/1 = 48/9
so it's 48/9

Can someone PLEASE help me solve these last 2 problems so I can be done with this math class....really stumped on these 2....
dexar [7]
Both distances 3966 and 4746 were done in 6 hours, so the speeds are:
speed against wind = 3966/6=661 km/h (difference of airplane and wind)
speed with wind = 4746/6=791 km/h (sum of airplane and wind)

The speed of airplane is greater than that of the wind, so this is a sum and difference problem.

Greater speed (plane) = (sum+difference)/2=(791+661)/2=726 km/h
Lesser speed (wind) = (sum-difference)/2 = (791-661)/2 = 65 km/h

Use the substitution method to solve the system of equations below.
Serhud [2]

Answer:

  • x = -1
  • y = -3

Step-by-step explanation:

Since you have an expression for y, it is convenient to use it.

  -2x + 8(3x) = -22 . . . . . substitute 3x for y in the second equation

  22x = -22 . . . . . simplify

  x = -1 . . . . . . . . . .divide by 22

Substituting this value into the expression for y:

  y = 3(-1) = -3

The solution is (x, y) = (-1, -3).

Standard form of the equation that goes through (1, 2) with a slope of 7, please!
Radda [10]

Answer:

7x - y = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in standard form is

Ax + By = C ( A is a positive integer and B, C are integers )

Obtain the equation in point- slope form and rearrange into standard form.

y - b = m(x - a)

where m is the slope and (a, b) a point on the line

Here m = 7 and (a, b) = (1, 2)

y - 2 = 7(x - 1) ← in point- slope form

y - 2 = 7x - 7 ( subtract y from both sides )

- 2 = 7x - y - 7 ( add 7 to both sides )

5 = 7x - y , that is

7x - y = 5 ← in standard form
