Two optically flat glass plates, 16.0 cm long, are in contact at one end and separated by 0.0200 mm at the other end. The space

between the plates is occupied by oil with index of refraction 1.45. The index of refraction of the glass plates is 1.55. The plates are illuminated at normal incidence with monochromatic light, and fringes are observed. If the dark fringes are spaced 2.00 mm apart, what is the wavelength of the monochromatic lig

Answer:

The wavelength of monochromatic light is - 725nm

Explanation:

Lets calculate -

Given - The dark fringes are 2.0mm wide and the glass plate is 16.0cm

Thus , the number of fringes is - n=\frac{16cm}{0.2mm}

                                  Here , converting the units into metre

                                                 = \frac{16m}{0.2\times10^-^3m}

                                                   = 80

Now , the expression used here is - 2nt=m\pi

        Putting the given values,

                    2\times (1.45)\times(2.0\times10^-^3)=80\pi

                     \pi =\frac{2\times1.45\times2.0\times10^-^3}{80}

                     \pi =7.25\times10^-^7m

                      =725\times10^-^9m

                       =725nm

Therefore , the answer is 725nm .

What will the transistor look like in the future
Elden [556K]

TRANSISTOR:

The future of transistors based on the ongoing researches suggests that, it would be based on nano technology. This technology is itself still under development and the case is similar in the case of transistors too.

Transistors due to their applications, especially its application as an amplifier has increased its usage and the dependability over them. The hard part often arises with the fabrication techniques which are being tested and developed as we speak in order to increase the efficiency of the transistors and also to reduce their physical size though, these would mean that, the design complications would be higher.

What is the relationship between ozone and smog?
Irina18 [472]

smog is a term used to describe air pollution that is a result of the interaction of sunlight with certain chemicals in the atmosphere. One of the primary components of photochemical smog is ozone. While ozone in the stratosphere protects earth from harmful UV radiation, ozone on the ground is hazardous to human health.

Why does it matter if a material is amorphous or crystalline? How does the arrangement of atoms affect the properties of materia
Rashid [163]

Answer:

It matters because crystalline and amorphous materials have different properties. The arrange affects the melting point (defined in crystals and a larger range in amorphous) and shape (geometrical in crystals, no geometrical in amorphous).

Explanation:

The particles that compose a solid material are held in place by strong tractive forces between them when we analyze solids we consider the position of the atoms (molecules or ions) rather than their motion (which is important in liquids and gases). This positioning can be arranged in two general ways:

  • Crystalline solids have internal structures that in turn lead to distinctive flat surfaces or face, these faces intersect at angles that are characteristic of the substance, crystals tend to have sharp, well defined and high melting points because of the same distance from the same number and type of neighbors. They generally have geometric shapes, some examples are diamonds, metals, salts.
  • Amorphous solids produce irregular or curved surfaces when broken and they have poorly defined patterns when exposed to x rays because of their irregular array. In contrast with crystal solids, amorphous solids soften over a wide temperature range due to the different amounts of thermal energy needed to overcome different interactions. Some examples of these solids are gels, plastics, and some polymers.

I hope you find this information useful and interesting! Good luck!
