No , because if you were to add 4+6 in the second equation you’ll get 10 then subtract the 4 on the right side that would give you. 2d + 6 = 5. So 2d + 4 = 5 is not the same as 2d + 6 = 5

Eg: x^2-3x-10=0       can be written as (x+2)(x-5)=0
The two solutions for x can then be determined by making each bracket equal to zero.
x+2=0 so x=-2x-5=0 so x=5
