Tell weather the two rates form a proportion. help
Sindrei [870]
7/9 = 42/54...when 42/54 reduces, it becomes 7/9...so this is proportional because proportions are nothing but equivalent fractions.

u could also check it this way...
12/21 = 15/24
cross multiply
(21)(15) = (12)(24)
315 = 288.....these do not equal and are therefore, not proportionate

440/4 = 300/3
110 = 100....not equal, so not proportionate

120/5 = 88/4
24 = 22.....not proportionate

66/82 = 99/123
0.804 = 0.804.......these are proportional

68/172 = 43/123
0.395 = 0.349......nope, not proportional

The median weight of 11 cats in a pet store is 7 pounds. Which action could CHANGE the median? WHY?
Tresset [83]
I would say d. the store gets a new 12-pound cat because it would become and even number of cats so you would have to find the average of cats 6 and 7

4.
-3/4 - 2/3 ÷ (-4/5)
= -3/4 - [2/3 ÷ (-4/5)]
{switch the numerator and denominator when changing from ÷ to ×, or × to ÷}
= -3/4 - [2/3 × (-5/4)]
{numerator × numerator, and denominator × denominator}
= -3/4 - [-10/12]
= -3/4 + 10/12
= -9/12 + 10/12
= 1/12

5.
-2 2/5 + (-2 4/5) × 4/7
= -2 2/5 - (2 4/5 × 4/7)
= -12/5 - (14/5 × 4/7)
= -12/5 - (56/35)
{Simplify fraction to make denominators same}
= -12/5 - (8/5)
= -20/5
= -4/1
= -4

6.
-(-3/5) - 1 3/7 ÷ (-5/14)
{Negative signs cancelled out, fractions compounded}
= 3/5 - 10/7 ÷ (-5/14)
{Switch numerator and denominator when switch from ÷ to ×}
= 3/5 - [10/7 × (-14/5)]
= 3/5 - [-140/35]
= 3/5 + 20/5
= 23/5
{Simplify fraction}
= 4 3/5

Hope this helps! :) You may ask me for more help if you need
