Using the diagram above, answer the following questions:
STatiana [176]

Answer:

See explanation for details

Explanation:

6) C is false. What is going on there is actually a transformation of mechanical energy to the chemical energy stored in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The burning of the fossil fuel produces mechanical energy which is stored in the chemical bonds of CO2 hence the statement is false

7) A is true. Solar energy refers to energy from the sun, this energy is trapped from Tue sun and stored in chemical bonds in glucose, and starch molecules during photosynthesis.

8) C represents the release of carbon dioxide by the burning of fossil fuels.

9) B,C,D, E

B refers to photosynthesis in which plants take in atmospheric carbon dioxide

C refers to the burning of fossil rules which releases atmospheric carbon dioxide

D refers to the dissolution of atmospheric carbon dioxide in water bodies to form carbonates in water.

E refers refers the return of organic carbon to the soil by dead organisms

10) A and C

A shows the conversion of solar energy to chemical energy

C shows the conversion of mechanical energy to chemical energy

Calculate how many grams of hydrogen can be burned if 40. liters of oxygen at 200. k and 1.0 atm. show work pls.
Wittaler [7]

The grams of hydrogen gas can be burned if 40. liters of oxygen at 200. k and 1.0 atm is 4.88 grams.

How do we calculate grams from moles?

Grams (W) of any substance will be calculated by using their moles (n) through the following equation:

 • n = W/M, where

M = molar mass

And moles of the gas will be calculated by using the ideal gas equation as:

 • PV = nRT, where

P = pressure = 1atm

V = volume = 40L

n = moles = ?

R = universal gas constant = 0.082 L.atm / K.mol

T = temperature = 200K

On putting these values on the above equation, we get

n = (1)(40) / (0.082)(200) = 2.439 = 2.44 moles

 • Now grams of hydrogen gas will be calculated by using the first equation as:

W = (2.44mol)(2g/mol) = 4.88g

Hence required mass of hydrogen gas is 4.88g.

Ok another chemistry question! This is another question that I can)t solve
steposvetlana [31]

Hey there!

NaHCO₃

Notice that there is no subscript under Na.

That means there is one atom of Na for each molecule of NaHCO₃.

Hope this helps!

Which of the following are likely to form an ionic bond? silicon and oxygen oxygen and oxygen carbon and hydrogen magnesium and
Tasya [4]

Answer: The bond formed between magnesium and oxygen is an ionic bond.

Explanation:

An ionic bond is formed when an atom transfer its valence electrons to another atom.

Whereas, a covalent bond is formed by the sharing of electrons between the atoms.

Silicon and oxygen forms silicon dioxide. Silicon has 4 valence electrons which are shared with each oxygen atom. Hence, silicon and oxygen forms a covalent bond.

Oxygen and oxygen shares two pairs of electrons therefore, a covalent bond is formed between oxygen and oxygen.

A covalent bond is formed between carbon and hydrogen as carbon has 4 valence electrons which are shared with four hydrogen atoms.

Magnesium has 2 valence electrons which are transferred to the oxygen atom in order to complete its octet.

Therefore, the bond formed between magnesium and oxygen is an ionic bond.
