All forms of resting<span> are restorative to some degree. The degree to how much it will impact you is really based on the quality of rest, with full and deep </span><span>sleep being the most beneficial. 

In short, resting is restorative like sleeping.

Resting does NOT count as sleeping. Resting is the awareness of letting your body regain energy, aside from your eyes. Sleeping is when you're unconscious, and your body is completely relaxed.

There is proof of it. Such as fossils, records, videos, etc. Dinosaurs and Thylacines for example. Both of these have been extinct for quite some time. Although there is footage of some Thylacines there isn't any of any Dinosaurs. However, there is fossils and bones found from Dinosaurs. There has been fossils from many extinct animals dating back millions of years, therefore proving its a common event through history.
