Explain what happens to the particles in a substance during a physical change

Physics

Answer: Physical change is a change in which there is no change in chemical composition of the substance.

For example, when we freeze liquid water then it changes into solid, that is, only physical state of water has changed and no change in chemical composition.

Therefore, in a physical change there is change only in the arrangement, energy and movement of particles.

Answer:

Explanation:

In physical changes no new materials are formed and the particles do not change apart from gaining or losing energy. ... Particles stay the same unless there is a chemical change whether the matter is solid, liquid or gas. Only their arrangement, energy and movement changes

the density of maple wood is about 755.kg/m. What is the mass of a solid piece of maple that has a volume 640.cm?
jenyasd209 [6]

I believe that the correct given values are:

density = 755 kg/m^3

volume = 640 cm^3

First let us convert volume to m^3 units.

volume = 640 cm^3 * (1 m / 100 cm)^3 = 6.4 x 10^-4 m^3

so the mass is:

mass = 755 kg/m^3 * (6.4 x 10^-4 m^3)

<span>mass = 0.4832 kg = 483.2 g</span>

A car is moving with a speed of 15 ms. How long does it take to cover a distance<br>of 1.2 km?
fgiga [73]

Answer: 80 s

Explanation:

Speed is expressed in  v= d/t, derive the equation so we can have time.

First conert km into meters to cancel out both units and only seconds will remain.

1.2 km x 1000m/ 1km = 1200 m

t = 1200 m /15 m/s = 80 s

A vacuum gage connected to a chamber reads 39 kPa at a location where the atmospheric pressure is 92 kPa. Determine the absolute
Nata [24]

Answer: 53 kPa

Explanation:

Absolute pressure is a pressure value referred to absolute zero or vacuum. This value indicates the total pressure to which a body or system (the chamber in this situation) is subjected, considering the total pressure acting on it.

In this sense, the equation that will be useful in this case is:

P_{atmospheric}= P_{absolute} + P_{vacuum}  (1)

Where:

P_{atmospheric}=92 kPa is the atmospheric pressure

P_{vacuum}=39 kPa is the vacuum pressure

P_{absolute} is the absolute pressure

Isolating P_{absolute}  from (1):

P_{absolute}=P_{atmospheric} - P_{vacuum}  (2)

P_{absolute}=92 kPa - 39 kPa  (3)

Finally:

P_{absolute}=53 kPa=53(10)^{3} Pa This is the absolute pressure in the chamber
