Answer:

The measure of the vertex angle is 94 degrees ⇒ A

Step-by-step explanation:

  • In any triangle, the sum of the measures of its interior angle is 180°
  • In the isosceles triangle, the two base angles are equal in measures

∵ In an isosceles triangle, the measure of the base angle = (2x + 5)

∵ The base angles of the isosceles triangles are equal in measures

∴ The measures of the base angles are (2x + 5), (2x + 5)

∵ The measure of the vertex angle = (5x - 1)

∵ The sum of the measure of the three angles = 180°

∴ (2x + 5) + (2x + 5) + (5x - 1) = 180

→ Add the like terms in the left side

∵ (2x + 2x + 5x) + (5 + 5 + -1) = 180

∴ 9x + 9 = 180

→ Subtract 9 from both sides

∴ 9x + 9 - 9 = 180 - 9

∴ 9x = 171

→ Divide both sides by 9 to find x

∴ x = 19

→ Substitute the value of x in the measure of the vertex angle to find it

∵ The measure of the vertex angle = 5x - 1

∴ The measure of the vertex angle = 5(19) - 1

∴ The measure of the vertex angle = 95 - 1

∴ The measure of the vertex angle = 94°

∴ The measure of the vertex angle is 94 degrees

The table shows the results of a poll of 200 randomly selected juniors and seniors who were asked if they attended prom. Find th
Zielflug [23.3K]

Answer:

(a)\frac{7}{25}

(b)\frac{19}{116}

(c)\frac{28}{125}

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of juniors who attended prom,n(J)=28

Number of seniors who attended prom,n(S)=97

  • Total of those who attended prom=125

Number of juniors who did not attend prom,n(J')=56

Number of seniors who did not attend prom,n(S')=19

  • Total of those who attended prom=75
  • Total Number of students=200

(a) P (a junior who did not attend prom)

P(J')=\frac{56}{200}= \frac{7}{25}

(b)

P(Senior)=\frac{116}{200}

P ($did not attend prom$ | senior)=\frac{\text{P(seniors who did not attend prom)}}{P(Senior)} \\=\frac{19/200}{116/200} \\=\frac{19}{116}

(c)P (junior | attended prom)

P(Senior)=\frac{84}{200}

P (Junior|$ attended prom$)=\frac{\text{P(juniors who attended prom)}}{P(\text{those who attended prom)}} \\=\frac{28/200}{125/200} \\=\frac{28}{125}

Andy completes the square for the equation x2 + 6x - 8 = 0. Which of the following equations reveals the vertex of the parabola?
Stolb23 [73]
If the equation x^2+6x-8 has undergo completing the square, the answer would be:
x^2+6x-8

x^2+6x+9-8-9
**In this example, since 6x is the middle term, what comes to my mind is the polynomial (x+3) because 2ab results into 6x. [from the special products lesson (a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2 ]
(x+3)^2 -17 = 0
So if the equation is equal to y, then this equation's
y+17=(x+3)^2
The vertex would be on the point (-3, -17)

A computer store has certain software on sale at 3 for $20.00, with a limit of 3 at the sale price. Additional
alexgriva [62]

Answer:

a) y = 9.95(x-3) + 20.00

b) Cost of 5 software packages = $39.90

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Cost of 3 software at sale = $20

Cost of regular = $9.95

Let,

x be the number of software purchased.

We will subtract 3 from x because they cost $20.

y be the total cost.

y = 9.95(x-3)+ 20.00

Putting x=5 in expression

y = 9.95(5-3) + 20.00

y = 2(9.95) + 20.00

y = 19.90 + 20.00

y = $39.90

Hence,

a) y = 9.95(x-3) + 20.00

b) Cost of 5 software packages = $39.90

Which is the smallest number? 3/4,1/5,10/23,2/31
bixtya [17]
A quick and easy way to do this particular question is to think all of these numbers are close to 1/2 except 2/31. So, the lowest is 2/31.
